  • Homework Assignment 9/10

Class, the time has come when once again we start doing homework assignments.  Last school year you did exceptionally well so I am expecting the same outstanding work this year.

With that being said, here's your first assignment this year.

    A.

    B.

    C.

OK, class, here are the rules.  Answer two of the above questions but make sure you answer them clearly and concisely and for A and B make sure you include why you made those selections.

Good luck, now get to work.

    My Answers:
    A.  I'd have to go with FDR or James K. Polk.  I think this country needs someone like FDR to get us out of the current state we're in but then some might chime in that he was a socialist who used war to his advantage.  Polk was awesome because he made campaign promises and kept them and because he did them all in his first term he didn't seek re-election.

    B.  This one is somewhat difficult because there are so many I could pick.
    1.  The Simpsons.  I honestly haven't watched many episodes from the past 10 seasons so that would be like watching brand new episodes plus the old ones are classic.  "we're talking softball..."
    2.  Star Trek.  I've never seen a complete episode of the original series and probably have only seen a handful of the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.  I think it's high time I get into something like that.
    3.  South Park.  The show is so topical that when I'd see an episode I could have flashbacks to the actual events that inspired it.
    4.  The Shield.  Quite possibly the best police drama to ever air on TV.
    5.  Toss up between Friday Night Lights, Wonder Showzen, My Name is Earl, King of the Hill or Seinfeld.
    C.  Youth, Freedom, Intelligence

    A) Thomas Jefferson

    B) Perry Mason, Magnum, P.I., Doctor Who, Mystery Science Theater, Masterpiece Mystery

  • hesacontradiction

Clinton, Supernatural and Revenge (the only ones I really watch) and the first word I found was love... so I stopped.  Pretty angry about things today and not in the loving mood.  (so do I get points for trying?)

  • randaness

    A. Abe Lincoln, because he was the sexiest president.

    C. cual, mhjrey, noax. I don't know what those words mean, though.

  • Unstoppable_Inner_Strength

    A. I'm not familiar with all of the presidents, so I can't say.

    B.  Everybody Loves Raymond, Family Guy, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, The Colbert Report...

Pretty tired for a puzzle, but I've done that one before.

  • starmanjones

of the presidents, obama- i'm liable to have a shot at a future not to necessarily be shooting in the future.

the entire collection of this old house..if nothing else i might be inspired to have a better home, the entire catalogue of the victory garden because then i might be able to eat something.  the entire collection of the frugal gourmet because he covered far more genres of cuisine than nearly any celebrity chef so i might be able to eat well, the entire collection of the 400 something episodes of the red green show because I'll have some damn fine old jokes.  and the entire collection of sesame street so that I may be able to catch a damn nap if I'm so lucky as to have children around or fall and bump y head and have to relearn how to talk and read.

my words were love, lust, heal, sine, intelligent.

YAY FOR SCHOOL, YAY FOR SCHOOL!!!!

    A. I honestly don't know which President I'd vote for. I didn't pay attention to US History enough to know which one I would have liked.

    B. I would have LOST, Everybody Loves Raymond, Criminal Minds, Shark Tank, and my soap opera Y&R.

    C. Love, youth, and success. Youth doesn't make sense to me because I'm already on the mindset that I'm killing myself on my 70th birthday if I haven't died from natural causes by then. So, yeah - I'm obviously not too crazy on wanting youth in my life haha.  .... and I saw "yix" and my mind quickly read it as "sex". That would be a good thing to have in life hahaha
  • Marica0701

Shit. I forgot to explain B.

LOST - crazy, confusing, WTF. I love it.
ELR - Frank cracks me up
Criminal Minds - LOVE ME TO SHEMAR MOORE. Damn he's sexy...
Shark Tank - love capitalism haha
Y&R - nothing like shams for relationships, unrealistic stories, and awesome fashion
  • emily_shannon

    1) Probably Theodore Roosevelt.

    2) "Fullmetal Alchemist", "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood", "Arrested Development", "South Park", and "The Newsroom".
    3) "run", "one", and "intelligence"... Wait, what?
  • Thatslifekid

    A) James A. Garfield, his Lawnfield campaign was run in my hometown, and he had the shortest term in office, I firmly believe that he could have been a stupendous prez had he had a full term.

    C)  Sine, ceyax, vnurh.

  • spinner_mom

    A) Ronald Regan.  The dude won every state in the 84 elections except for Mondales home state and DC!  He ended the cold war and and and and.... there is just so much!!! We need someone like that back in office!

    B) 1: Happy Days. But only the episodes up til Fonz jumped the shark. LOL 2: Lost. Too many twist and turns to sort out in one sitting. 3: Farscape. Gotta have good sci fi in there. 4: Firefly. Ditto to number three. 5: All the Bugs Bunny-Road Runner/Looney Tunes Cartoons! Saturday morning forever!!!!

    C) Love, Intelligence, Foo.

A.) I would probably pick Lincoln. There's many reasons why he was a great president, but here's a quote that I found that sums up why I would pick him: " Lincoln manged Washington DC, the War, and Politics with a skill unmatched in history. Plus he was our most eloquent speaker. Washington and the Founding Fathers may have given a head and body to our nation, but Lincoln gave it it's soul."

B.) Family Guy - It will never, ever, EVER get old. Likewise, it will never ever cease to make me laugh.
Sons of Anarchy - The writing and storyline is brilliant. Even if you have no interest in biker gangs and criminals, it will suck you in and never let you go again. The cast is amazing, Katey Sagal is hypnotizing as a fierce mother, and each actor on the show is highly talented.
The Simpsons - The reasoning is pretty much the same as for Family Guy. I grew up with this show, and it never fails to make me laugh.
Dexter - A serial killer that you can't help but love. One of the most brilliant shows on tv.
Friends - I don't care, I love Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe. Always will. Again, it never gets old. I watch a rerun of Friends at least once a day, it is constantly on and it makes me happy.

C.) Love, freedom, and intelligence. Sounds about right, but I'm guessing any words I saw would have sounded good.

  • olwd

@randaness - The "A" answer would be mine too, but not sure on that "sexy" part.  lol

Your words, or bunch of letters put together, were FUNNY!!!

  • olwd

    A. Abraham Lincoln

    B. Lost, Falling Skies, Smallville, HGTV anything and History anything (are those last two too broad?)

    C.  Love, Money, Intelligence

  • promisesunshine

    A. jefferson.  he was idealistic but imperfect. knew there was lots of wrong to be fixed, but realized he couldn't possibly fix it all at once.
    B. for the rest of my life?  1)jeopardy! because it's a different episode every night. 2) firefly because i can watch it over and over and not be bored by it.  3) touch, because it's totally awesome 4) glee maybe. for the songs 5) fringe because maybe by the end of my life i'd know what the heck is going on.
    C. love, health and money.  interesting.

...I enjoy cartoons. I am five.

    C) pop, ones, pines. I don't think it worked.
  • theKisSilent

    A. Thomas Jefferson, because he wrote the Declaration of Independence, he was probably the most intelligent president we ever had, he brokered the Louisiana Purchase and he wasn't even sure it was legal and he started the Library of Congress. I know he was a slave owner, but if he was alive today he wouldn't be one so ...

    C. Experience. Beauty. Happiness.
