Today was Veteran's Day. I took time out at 11:11 this morning to remember the fallen and all who have served for this country that we may enjoy the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. I just always wondered why 11:11 on 11/11. Apparently when they signed the Armistice ending World War I, they wanted to have a moment in time that made such a great impact that people would never war again. Well we know from history that it didn't work that well. 17 years after the Kellogg-Briand Pact was signed by 15 nations including the US. The pact drew the US into being France's defense system against Germany. Most importantly the Kellog-Briand Pact outlawed war forever. No one knew how to enforce the pact so it was toothless and 3 years later Japan seized Manchuria, 7 years later Italy took over Ethiopia, and then we all remember the aggressive expansion of Nazi Germany in the late 30s. Enough history. Thank a veteran or current service member. I came across this story: “On 18 September 1944, in the vicinity of Best., Holland, his platoon, attempting to seize the bridge across the Wilhelmina Canal, was surrounded and isolated by an enemy force greatly superior in personnel and firepower. Acting as lead scout, Pfc. Mann boldly crept to within rocket-launcher range of an enemy artillery position and, in the face of heavy enemy fire, destroyed an 88mm. gun and an ammunition dump. Completely disregarding the great danger involved, he remained in his exposed position, and, with his M-1 rifle, killed the enemy one by one until he was wounded 4 times. Taken to a covered position, he insisted on returning to a forward position to stand guard during the night. On the following morning the enemy launched a concerted attack and advanced to within a few yards of the position, throwing hand grenades as they approached. One of these landed within a few feet of Pfc. Mann. Unable to raise his arms, which were bandaged to his body, he yelled “grenade” and threw his body over the grenade, and as it exploded, died. His outstanding gallantry above and beyond the call of duty and his magnificent conduct were an everlasting inspiration to his comrades for whom he gave his life.”

I was emailed a chain letter tonight and didn't feel like responding so I am destined to have 7 years bad luck. 7 years of bad luck piled upon a lifetime is nothing. I can do 7 years standing on my head. The body of the email was a horoscope. Here is mine: Pisces Can be mean sometimes, and will Probably knock your ass out, if crossed the wrong way!! Caring and kind, Smart, Center of attention, Too Sexy, Very high SEX appeal, Has the last word, The nicest ass ever, The best to find, hardest to keep, Fun to be around, Freak in the sheets,Extremely weird but in a good way, Super good in bed, Good Sense of Humor, Thoughtful, A partner for life, Always gets what he or she wants, Loves to joke, Very popular, Silly, fun and sweet.
If that doesn't describe me vaguely, I don't know what else could.
Well I need some motivation to send that email out so I can get lucky...I mean have luck.
Getting there. By the way, I am curious if anyone out there watches The Shield. OMG (I am a little kid sometimes) that show is so great. Too bad there are only two more episodes left. I always have Dexter. I am reading through the books right now. Excellent reading. I have another post tonight. You'll enjoy it if you like drunk people and history.
