I like libraries and think they're useful and informative as well as entertaining. I disagree that the majority of people or our country is moving in my direction to support libraries when television and cellular phone/texting is far more valued andoften blocked at libraries so one will read versus become synambulated. I don't think children want to read in droves. I don't think they're learning how until adulthood if ever anymore. I think people are choosing to say that no matter how vital a service is and they're all vital- they'd rather have the lessened tax burden and a coupon for money off cable and or discount at the game purveyor. take for instance social programs for the old/infirm as in social security in the usa- it provides multilingual pamphlets and large televisions to view whatever's on. take the social services office for families and various local or additional services such as food assistance, utilities assistance, aid to needy families ... toys for the kids a television and even less reading material. it seems one can burn the books soon enough or charge only the user/patrons to make use of this antique of a place thus defeating it's whole purpose and value all so we save a few penniees soon enough another library fact that'll be lost.
