Bock Fest
This Saturday, February 21st, thousands of revelers will descend upon the August Schell Brewery in New Ulm, MN to celebrate Bock Fest. This festival is often compared to Madri Gras. Yes, it gets wild and yes, there are massive amounts of alcohol consumed, it is located at a brewery after all. I attended last year along with 8000 other people searching for Bock beer and Bock tokens hidden throughout the forest surrounding the brewery. It is a fun time. I won't be attending this year which is the first time in about 5 years. I am upset because I won't get to hear all the polka bands and consume fresh Bock beer. Oh and they also have bonfires around the brewery grounds and the people maintaining the fires also have metal pokers they place in the fire so that when you come up to the fire with a beer, they will carmalize it for you...EXCELLENT! One tradition I will miss most is Das Boot. I have talked about the boot before but I have since unearthed some of our group's Das Boot exploits. Enjoy or should I say Prost!

He's currently sitting on top of my refrigerator crying that he is missing out on all the fun.
A great collection of fun photos!

All which I was a part of. Two different weddings and in both weddings I was either a groomsman or an usher.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Oh nice!
Carmalize your beer for you? Whattt? Das Boot is freaking hugeeeee. People don't actually drink that by themselves right?
That looks like an extremely enjoyable excursion into beerfunland!

Yeah it sort of kills the alcohol and makes it sugary. It works best with a dark beer such as a bock and it tastes sweet and chocolaty. Well that is 2 liters of beer. I haven't had one by myself but I have seen those that have.

Yes, brought to us by the greatest breweries in the Midwest: Schell's, Leinenkugel's, and New Glarus.
