Lukewarm Links pt.2
I was set on getting this up earlier so that I wouldn't keep any of you up really late checking out all these links but I fell asleep on the floor. I was stretching out and next thing I know it is 2AM. So hopefully people will get to read this.
I didn't get this up in time for the Super Bowl but it is still funny. How did you get your tickets? I have never been to one. I did have family that went to the one that was in exotic Minneapolis. Anyway here is a list of lame attempts to get Super Bowl tickets.
A college roommate told me that when he was a foreign exchange student, he lost all touch with American movies. He said that when he walked around the streets of Vilnius, Lithuania and saw movie posters advertising American movies, he had no clue what they were about. Here is a collection of 20 movie posters from foriegn countries advertising American movies. No wonder he got confused.
Work in customer service? I did for many years during my summer vacations. Some days it was the worst job in the world but then others I made it the best job ever. I worked in one of the major tourist traps in Wisconsin during the height of the Beanie Baby craze. I have mentioned that before but I found this list of the 8 worst types of customers and thought they should add 1 more and that would be middle-aged Beanie Baby collectors.
I have told you many times that I read The Onion. Well a part of The Onion is called The A.V. Club and since I was late on the Super Bowl, I decided to be late with Valentine's Day and here is The A.V. Club's Valentine's Day mixtape. Also there is an interview with Vernon Chatman and John Lee, creators of Wonder Showzen. If you were a fan of Wonder Showzen I would suggest reading. Currently they are working on Xavier: Renegade Angel which appears on Adult Swim. Wonder Showzen was one of my favorite shows MTV has ever produced. I miss Chauncey although, he is alive and well on myspace and facebook.
I suppose many people are getting ready for their thesis papers. If anyone is taking a course in Star Wars studies, here is a site that you can document that answers the age old question, "Did Han Shoot First?"
Now here is a course that I would have loved to have taken in college. The research papers for that class would have been entertaining.
I don't know why I find this site entertaining but it is. Dinosaurs and robots make an awesome team but I could have never imagined that people wanted them to do this stuff.
Sometimes when I was teaching I felt like pulling out the magic 8ball to answer my students' questions. These guys used a magic 8ball to reply to emails. Somewhat funny.
Last week in my celebrity round up, I included the video of Joaquin Phoenix on the Late Show. I then started talking about another horrible interview that Letterman did with Crispin Glover. Well one of my readers sent me this link to the ten worst Letterman interviews. I totally forgot about the Harvey Pekar interviews. They used that video in the American Splendor movie. Excellent movie, you should watch it. Paul Giamanti at his finest. Also the people who ask what comics I like, American Splendor. My dad had those when I was a kid.
Oh the fun you can have with search engines. First we have this funny Golden Pages search. I had no clue. Have you ever wondered what a search of "professor retard" would illicit in a google image search? Well here you go, it's shocking that she actually teaches. Also, Google searching for the worst band in the world gives a great answer. You just have to look past the first videos.
I am glad I have never gotten this drunk. However there is a first time for everything. I won't do that this weekend because that doesn't fly at the casino.
Are you confused by rap songs? Well this handy website will explain some of those songs that might be confusing you. Who knew that N.W.A.'s song Fuck the Police meant that they don't particularly care for the police.
Because CaptainPlan.org would be just stupid. Take time and examine that url and if you don't understand, ask me for clarification.
Remember the controversy in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with the mini-game called Hot Coffee where by button mashing you could make the main character have sex with a girl? Well Grand Theft Auto 4 offers full frontal male nudity. People think video games are getting horrible but I had Custer's Revenge on the Atari. Yeah, I was like 5 or 6 and I had that game. My dad bought it and well I found it and it made its way into my game rotation.
This website contains famous quotes from Star Wars that are supposedly made better by changing certain words to the word pants. It reminds me of that old trick with fortune cookies that you add "in bed" at the end of every fortune. Yes, I lead a lackluster life.
Wow...I never knew anyone who admitted to following the Bahaii religion but apparently the guy who plays Dwight on The Office is a member of Bahaii'ism. He wrote a commentary at CNN.com imploring action against the persecution of his religion in Iran.
You know, this is how I see myself dying.
Stories like this make me really worried about the people who are employed to protect us and unhold our rights. Oh and that small community nearby has gotten rid of their entire police department. So if I don't write some evenings, just imagine me dressed in tights fighting crime because more than likely that is what I'll be doing.
I have loved the internet memes that have come up over the years. There are some I miss and some I detest and some I have never gotten into but overall they are fun little things. Here is a timeline of internet memes. Too bad that meme they tried to start on xanga a while back didn't make the list. You know the one...where everyone was emailing the emails that simply said poop.
A mad crisp, ritzy reader shared this link with me. It is a collection of geeky tattoos. I think I have posted a few of these in my old tattoo thursday posts but oh well they are still funny. Thank you, mad crisp, ritzy reader. You know that term crisp to mean cool...I heard that in a show this evening and it was used in that context. Somebody famous must be reading our blogs! Or at least someone from ESPN News.
Well I am going to head back to bed and actually try to sleep in a bed now.

This was great. Check out my latest about the Muslim founder of Bridges TV. Gettin rid of stereotypes is great!

fun links! have to check most of them out later though.
I'd love that have taken that course with you and compared notes. I wonder how many people at the college bar use the line "I'm looking to do some research for my favorite course" and aren't even enrolled in it.
Came here by way of nattata. Happy birthday!
The interesting thing about Custer's Revenge is that there are people who dismiss its existence, insisting that it's only an urban legend. Then there are others who swear they have played it. That is so weird. I see no reason to doubt you, or others who say they've played it. I just think it's weird that the game's existence is up for debate.
Wonderful...Laughed all morning, considering I flooded my kitchen in the process...
@spicyhotcoffee -
Sorry about making you flood your kitchen.
@godfatherofgreenbay -
It's not your fault. My mind is just really bad. I think I have ADD.
I need clarification.
@lonelywanderer2 -
Yeah I will check that out and read it closer. That whole thing with Islam and honor killing is interesting.
@storyslut -
Yeah I sometimes put way too many in one post but I think they would get lost in my other entries.
@curiousdwk -
I never thought of the pick-up line potential with that class...we need to get that class into American universities.
@ClockworkBunny -
Thank you for the birthday wishes.
I have never heard people deny Custer's Revenge. I thought it was accepted as fact since so many people have played it and owned it. I was searching for video game urban legends and actually found a good list but Custer's Revenge wasn't on that list.
@Shy___Away -
OK so what do you need clarification with?
@godfatherofgreenbay -
Haha I think I figured captainpla.net out...
Oh, and by the way, the customer service link rocks. Although, from my time at McDonalds, I can say the stoner was a welcome (and hilarious) break from the cyborgs with their bluetooths..
@Shy___Away -
Yeah I forgot about that Captain Pla.net one Captain Planet was an eco-superhero from back in the day. I actually loved that show and it had some major talent for the voices. Here is the wikipedia entry.
You know, I may have to agree with you about the stoners. I didn't work with food but I was primarily the manager of an arcade so they would come in and be amazed by all the shiny colors. They were a hassle when it was time to close because they didn't want to leave. I remember having to double check bathrooms because they would hide in there. Oh and they used this place to hide drugs.
