Decision: March 09
So I have a pressing issue. My friend J was telling me the upcoming schedule of a music venue down in Madison called the High Noon Saloon. I think we've been to at least three shows there...Brother Ali, Cloud Cult, and The Umbrella Sequence. Anyway two shows are coming up that have me wanting to go but the deal is they are on back to back nights so because I am getting to be an old man I don't know if my body could handle two concerts in two nights.
The show on March 26th is Clem Snide, who are just reuniting. Tickets are only $10 but they are being sold at music stores all over Madison so I have this feeling that the show will sell out quite quickly.
March 27th sees Cloud Cult come to town. Tickets for that show are $14 but those are only available through the venue.
Here is a description of the Clem Snide show that appears on the High Noon website:
Clem Snide is an alt-country indie rock project..."conjuring a sweet and lusciously melancholy sound that merges the tunefulness of vintage pop, the late-night vibe of cool jazz, the lonesome spirit of classic country, and the delicate touch of folk." -CMT- Plants and Animals plays indie rock and was described by Pitchfork as "...a distant Canadian cousin of Blitzen Trapper, this three-piece spins shaggy songs into expansive, genre-bending symphonies...sprawling collection of rootsy melodies, majestic arrangements, and classic rock riffs that owes as much to jam-band psychedelia as it does to delicately orchestrated chamber-folk." the heligoats is a one-man band playing psychedelic indie rock. (Plants and Animals and the heligoats are the opening acts)Here is the description of the Cloud Cult show:
Cloud Cult is an experimental indie rock band that blends elements of orchestral pop, folk-rock, psychedelia, electronics and more. Cloud Cult’s unique live performances include live painters on stage, and back screen video. "Michigan-based Mason Proper has proven that they can produce innovatively gratifying indie-rock in an unconventional sense." (Obscure Sound) Minneapolis pop wizard Jeremy Messersmith opens the show. (Mason Proper and Jeremy Messersmith are the opening acts)I have often talked about my love of Cloud Cult simply for the art of the show. They are the band that I have mentioned that during the show they have painters creating pieces of art. I love to watch a painting come to life in the course of their set.
Because I have mentioned some music I am also going to share some of their material.

Cloud Cult
Well there it is...I am leaning toward Cloud Cult because it's on a Friday night and I wouldn't have to worry about going to a Thursday night show and then having to hurry home and get to bed so I can get up Friday morning.
Oh and I have two new entries on the way. I don't know when they will get out but one is going to be an advice column that I will write with a friend and the other is coming because it is March and the madness with tournaments will soon begin. Hope everyone had an excellent weekend.

Both bands sound interesting but I think I'd choose the first one.

Yeah...tough choice...their song called Let's Explode has one of the most profound lyrics and that is the opening line. Every time I hear it I get chills and it just blows my mind.
I couldn't get the Xanga audio to work but I looked up some of their stuff on YouTube. They're both pretty chilled out sounding and it looks like they put on a good show, tough decision. Your last celeb update was utter hilariousness by the way.

Strange, the audio works for me but who knows Xanga has been messing around with that portion of the network for some time. Cloud Cult does an awesome show. I saw them at this show at First Avenue and they had like 4 painters making paintings during the show. That was so awesome to see.
I say do the Cloud Cult!!!IT sounds COOL!

I cannot get it to work either!

That is so weird. The audio is working for me. I even signed out and tried it and it worked. I was thinking of signing into another account to try.
I have seen Cloud Cult a few times now and it is surreal to see them painting on stage and sometimes in time with the music. This one show that I saw they had four painters, two on each side of the stage and two on each side of the stage on the floor. They then auction the paintings after the show and all the money goes to charity. They were also featured in some esurance commercials a while back.
