Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang
Sollen in der Welt behalten
Ihren alten schönen Klang,
Uns zu edler Tat begeistern
Unser ganzes Leben lang.
|: Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang.

Despite not being German, I really like their national anthem.
@kachino -
Sadly I know more verses of the German anthem than I do of the American anthem.
@godfatherofgreenbay -
Really? Wow, I thought you guys knew the lyrics to your anthem.
@kachino -
Well the first verse but not the subsequent 3 verses or the verses added during the Civil War. I think the reason why Germany has such a beautiful anthem is because of the harmonics.
Thanks for the eprop. By the way I watched a National Geographic specials on Col von Stauffenberg. I appreciated the historicity of the production.
Ich liebe dich! XD
Where do you have your piercings?
Ich will.....to know when you started being fluent in Deutsch!
what
@M_S_T_A - Piercings are good.
@Vynor -
I think the historical accuracy is about the only thing that Valkyrie had going for it.
@LilSweetJew -
Und dich auch...I think that is how the response goes.
@darkpunkgoddess -
Oh I understood it when I was young like 5 or so. In fact I had problems in kindergarten because I would speak German. My grandparents and great grandmother spoke it and I guess I picked it up. I only knew basics until I got to high school where that was my easiest class. I also used it quite a bit in college.
@whoaaa_electro -
Basically I am just saying that I hated Tom Cruise's movie Valkyrie.
Thanks for the eprops you left days ago (I'm a little behind) and while I don't speak German, the entries after this one made me laugh out loud at work. Thanks for that. I had to do the laugh-then-quickly-cough thing, which is never believable...
@NoGraySunflowers -
This post was just about my hatred for the Tom Cruise film Valkyrie. I think it was merely propaganda for his pseudo-religion to be accepted by the German government. He portrays a German hero and they love him then Scientology gets recognized.
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed my other posts!
Yeah that's precisely why I didn't go to see it. Leave it to Hollywood to screw something up and dumb it down. But then I suppose their film making these days is perhaps simply a reflection of the average audience goers numb brained tastes. As for the accents thing, it sort of reminds me of Star Wars in which all the imperial officers spoke in British accents while the rebels all spoke in American accents, whateveas... As for Stauffenberg, he was a true German patriot of the finest sort. It is most unfortunate his attempt failed. Someone should have had the balls to simply walk up and shoot Hitler point blank; it would have ended a lot of miseries for a great many people.
Kein Walküre für mich!
This was highly entertaining! You use many big words. lol Definitely no beginner!
@nattata -
That makes me happy. I was sort of hoping you would get to read this. Have you seen that movie? It's nice to know my German doesn't seem like that of a beginner.
@UR_MUSE -
Yeah, I would recommend that no one bother renting this movie. Hollywood ruins history. I just got through re-watching Band of Brothers. That has been one of the better historical shows I have seen. I did not enjoy Braveheart so much because they played up so much of the love angle which even Scots admit probably didn't happen.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Yes, I've seen the film and I even kinda liked it but I also used to be a Tom Cruise fan till he became all weird...
@nattata -
OK maybe I was a little harsh but if they had someone other than Tom Cruise and resolved the accent thing, I thought it was a good movie. It is nice to see those historical events happen and to see how they may have transpired. I have thought that one of the main reasons why Cruise took that role was because Germany doesn't recognize Scientology as a religion and if he played Stauffenberg in a film that maybe he could sway German politicians so that he could do "mission work" in Germany. I hope I am way off in my thinking.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Yes, I think you are quite right in your thinking but I don't think his plan worked out, or at least I hope so. (Three times "think"; darn I THINK I'll never get over the beginner status with my English. lol)
@nattata -
Well your English is great because when I first met you it was hard to believe that you were German because the English with which you wrote was so eloquent. I thought maybe you were originally American and moved to Germany.
@godfatherofgreenbay - So nice of you to say that!
@nattata -
Well from time to time I try to be nice.
