  • Monday Morning Mash-Up Madness

What a great weekend!  Actually that was sarcasm.  I have to go into the hospital tomorrow because I am having a recurrence of something that was troubling me last year, the condition that the doctors were never able to diagnose.  I don't know why I am going, probably to be reassured that I am not dying and also to get a possible blood transfusion.  Anyway sorry to be a bring down.  Here are the mash-ups.

This mash-up combines "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana.  In the mash-up craze "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the second most used song.  The only song used more would be "Without Me" by Eminem.

"Hung Up" by Madonna mashed up with "Soul Meets Body" by Death Cab for Cutie.  I am always iffy on this one.  Maybe it is because I enjoy the work of DCFC and have not been a great Madonna fan.  Lately she terrifies me, but her song "Hung Up" was so good that I went out to buy the album, my only Madonna cd.

This mash-up is crazy.  It takes Snoop Dogg's "Drop it Like it's Hot" and mashes it with "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.  I love the Zeppelin song that is used because it reeks of pure unadulterated sex and from what I hear in the Snoop Dogg song, he does the same thing.  Excellent work.

I hope you had a better weekend than myself.  Oh and if you missed them here's my recent Celebrity Round-Up and this entry is something I unearthed about Race in Sports.

  • MORNING?! does your day really start at 1 AM?

  • mj and cobain is strange concepts haha

  • @its_me_katie -

Well technically...also I figure when a lot of people see this entry it will be Monday morning

  • @Paul_Partisan -

Yeah, I don't know if it works but I think I like it because of the combination of two totally different musical styles.

  • I like the third one the best.  Hope they find and fix what is amiss quickly and expertly!  I will be thinking of ya.

  • Well damn, sorry you are not feeling well
    The weather was fantastic thou

  • @storyslut -

thank you, I hope they have a better idea of why I am going through this.

That last song is probably my favorite of this group.

  • @ElevenStones -

Well it figures as soon as things get better outside I get sick.

  • Look up DJ Schmolli; he's got some of the best mash-ups I've ever heard.

  • @Drakonskyr -

I have heard of him and have enjoyed his stuff. Most of these are by Party Ben and random people who post them on a mash-up blog I read. DJ Schmolli, I think, did this insane mash-up of Iron Maiden and The Monkees.

  • holly shiiit! @nd one is nice, 3rd one kicks ass! Did you do this yourself? anywho...thanks for the comment. I dont know who you are or how we met, since my page is basically "ed-related." but nice to hear from you. Keep in touch. Very nice music!!!

  • MJ & Kurt Cobain, entirely different musical genres and styles, but together, it's sweet. I'm going to jam to this one all night now.

The Death Cab/Madonna mash is something to dance too. I never thought it was possible to dance to Death cab, haha.

I was a little wary of the Snoop/Zeppelin mash up but I'm in love with it now. What a crazy combo, and it works.

Thanks for the mash-ups Matteo. Made my hellish day better! :] I hope you get better soon!!

I forget how we met here but I figured I should stop just reading and say something. I do like your writing style.

I wish I did these myself. The majority come from a guy named Party Ben but most are just random djs. I used to hear these back in the day and then I would replicate it and add some tweaks and effects so I was making my own remixes on these. I also made my own but that computer crashed and I can't get them back. I used to sit around with three stereos playing random songs just so I could hopefully pick up some combination. That was during my obsessive/compulsive days.

If you ever want the mp3s for your chance to download let me know because I have these saved on my computer because I am going to upload them to a device as soon as I get a new device. Oh and if you go into my audio blog I have them all there and don't plan on taking them down.

The first one is pretty cool. Michael Jackson mash-ups are really popular right now and I am anxious to hear future ones. I think the DJ that made that one said he did it after he heard MJ died.

I never thought of how that mash-up made it possible to dance to Death Cab...well other than just slow swaying like at a slow dance in high school...not to be stereotypical but you know what I mean.

I first saw the Snoop and Zep and I am thinking that it was going to be bastardized and low and behold I was very impressed. Last week I featured a mash-up of a combo that I never thought would work...ABBA's "Mama Mia" vs "Freak on a Leash" by Korn.

  • MJ is recording with Kurt Cobain in the afterlife! Prolly Elvis, Jim Morrison and Janet Joplin are working their next number in the adjacent studio. The afterlife is sweet! Don't you go there just yet though. Heal up and continue blogging son, that's an order! The Xangmasses are relying on your writing for their daily laughs and inspiration.

  • @UR_MUSE -

Thanks...well I am feeling somewhat better. Had an iv of potassium and iron and some other fluids.

You made me remember one of my favorite songs. It's called "Rock and Roll Heaven" and is by the Righteous Brothers. It's such a great song. Now I have to find it for my audio blog.
