Monday Morning Mash-Up Madness
I will just get into the mash-ups because I have some other stuff to talk about.
This one takes a Lil Wayne song and mashes it up with some Van Halen. Honestly, I don't listen to enough Lil Wayne to know what the song is called but I like the Van Halen part.
This mash-up has been pretty famous. It is called Boulevard of Broken Songs and contains elements of Green Day mashed with Oasis. I think the Green Day song is Boulevard of Broken Souls or something like that and the Oasis song is Wonderwall. I normally wouldn't consider this one a mash-up but since Oasis broke up for the 537th time, I had to include. Why isn't it a mash-up? Well the Green Day album, American Idiot, is basically a mash-up itself. You can spot elements of so many songs in their "rock opera". There is one song on there that is "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash.
I enjoy this one. It is a song by Christiana Millian called "Tell Me" (not 100% sure) and is mashed-up with Papa Roach's "Last Resort". "Last Resort" has received numerous mashing treatments.
OK my other segment:
In June of 1876, General George Armstrong Custer was ordered move the Sioux indians to their reservations. A new piece of technology was available it was called the Gatling Gun. Custer refused to use the new technology because it would hamper his mobility and delay his march and besides that he as ordered to take a "small Sioux village". Custer took 250 doomed members of the 7th Calvary to the banks of the Little Bighorn River where they met a massive resistance. Custer and his troops became human pin-cushions for the Sioux's arrows. It makes you wonder what was going through Custer's mind as the arrows flew by and he saw all of his troops dead..."Damn, I sure could use a Gatling right about now." So Custer didn't follow one of the greatest rules in military tactics: if a new weapon is available, use it. That being, there is a new technology that has sky-rocketed and I have become a part of that community. Yes, I broke down, not giving into my inner vanity like Custer, and created a Twitter account. Yes, I created it after reading about the NBA players that were ordered to shut down their sites because they were promoting gang messages. Yes, I created it after reading about Michael Beasley and how he posted suicidal notes. Yes, I created after reading how many children are fans of porn stars. Twitter is a great piece of technology and it can help me fight the battle of....um...well...I guess as Ben Folds so eloquently put it...the battle of who could care less. I probably will not be mobile posting but just random stuff like I do here on Xanga with the pulse. If you have Twitter, let me know and we can talk about Xanga and asundry of other topics...maybe more of my thoughts on General Custer. And because I am in a Paul Harvey mood...Now you know the rest of the story...when there really wasn't a story here.

It was sad one of the brothers left Oasis this week. Nevermind, I am a Brian Jonestown Massacre fan. Maybe they will get the Oasis spotlight now.
Hey Great Mashups!
Mash-up #22: "Prom Queen" by Lil' Wayne
Mash-up #23: "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day. (I used to listen to Oasis all the time!!)
And OMG, you created a Twitter acct?! LOL I'm surprised! Okay, well, follow me, if you want!
Follow meeee!!!

P.S. I loveeeee mash-ups!
Fail. You, like everyone else I have read (never heard directly) praising Twitter, praise the technology but not the results. Why I would want to use Twitter has never been answered. (At least the Gatlin gun had a reason - to kill more people in a shorter amount of time.) No one tells me the benefit they have received from subscribing to Twitter. The only benefit is that they get the delusional thought that maybe somebe out there cares to know when they are going into a store or what thought just went through their head without any reflection at all.
Now, please tell me the benefits you are receiving and that I could/should expect to receive? I really would like to know.
(By the way, I am not a Luddite as I spend all day every day working on a computers developing database applications and I have been a Systems Engineer first for a minicomputer company and then for a data communications company. I am also a web master for two non-profits. So I am definitely not afraid of the technology - I just fail to see the benefit.)
lol the first one >_< i like the second one ooooh yeah i really like the third one
HAAAAA you got a twitter!!! lol "follow" me! ---> arinsmo by far the most narcissistic site yet!
If Custer had been an infantry man he might have taken it, firepower and attrition vs mobility
On the other hand if Custer had not been a prima donna he might have waited for the infantry like he was suppose to.

I always get Brian Jonestown Massacre confused with another band whose name eludes me. I remember seeing a video and reading about it. This band was about to be signed by a major record label and they were having a show and a few labels were competing for them had reps at the show. Well something set the lead singer off and he attacked one of the other band members and essentially the band split up then and there.
@mZdejavuZ -
Thanks, I never had much time for Lil Wayne. I didn't quite get the appeal but that is my reaction to most mainstream rap these days.
I can't believe I got the Green Day song wrong. I have that album and actually enjoyed it before every little kid started dressing like they did (my students wore stupid mascara, black shirts and red ties) and their music was all over the pop channels. I miss their old stuff. They have a new song out or at least it is new to me. I saw it on VH-1 and I wanted to dig out my ear drums.
@Another_Perfect_Wonder -
Thank you and I just looked for you on Twitter to follow
@curiousdwk -
Yes, I am a failure. I succumbed to peer pressure. Well one thing that has been interesting is following a porn starlet's play by play during the production of a new movie. And asking her opinion for positions she should try. Also she posts photos. Another is that many talk shows are using Twitter for their programs. it has been fun sharing my thoughts with a national audience. I hope I haven't pissed you off.
@darkarin88 -
Yeah the last two were my favorites this week.
I put in to follow you. I can't wait to see the narcissism flow.
@ElevenStones -
Ah yes, if only he spent a few more minutes brushing his hair.
No, you didn't piss me off. (smile) I was just yanking your chain. I would be curious how effective it has been to have your thoughts shared with the nation of is your entry just a tally digit? As for the port star, if you came up with a position she didn't know about, would she consider having you show it to her? That would be worth a lot right there.
From what I have seen of Twitter feeds, it's like a Congressman who has an aide sit at the phone and tally up the pluses and minuses that call in, but there's no real effect except that the poor ignorants get the feeling that their voice is really being heard. (Kind of like the "Close Door" in an elevator - it doesn't do anything except give some people a feeling of power that isn't real.)
I am surprised in that I thought you would be more the person who preferred to offer reflective thoughts rather than just reactive snippets.
As you can see, I can't even respond with a Comment in the limited number of characters that Twitter requires. (smile)
Enjoy your Twitter.

LOL yeah I feel the same way about mainstream rap, too. I don't listen to much of it. It's not my cup of tea. And yeah I think I know what song you're talking about too... I haven't heard all of their songs on their new album, but the songs I've heard so far don't even compare to their awesome "American Idiot" album.
