  • Motivation

So here we are again.  Another Tuesday evening and I can't sleep.  It is getting worse.  I am surprised I am going on such little sleep.  It will catch up with me.

I was sitting in church on Sunday and I was looking at this woman.  She reminded me of someone but I couldn't put my finger on it.  Then she looked at me and put her arm around her husband and then it hit.  She looks like Pam from this cute little show I discovered called The Office.  I saw the British version before the American version and then they slapped Brick Tamland as the lead and I figured people would laugh just because.  I was over at a friend's house watching an episode when it first was on and they didn't get the real humor but laughed at the slapstick stuff.  It drove me nuts.  Anyway since The Office is in syndication I am watching and enjoying.  Oh and that Pam look-a-like, she's the church's secretary...serious.

ESPN Classic is airing the 1993 World Series of Poker and it's hosted by Dick Van Patten.  When I think of Texas Hold'em, I think of Dick Van Patten.

    Here's your motivation:

I was checking out the soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are...stellar.  I have been waiting for that movie since I saw the crappy animation job on Reading Rainbow.

I have been posting like mad lately...3 in 24 hours!  Damn, son.  I think I am subconsciously gearing up for another numerical post extravaganza.  In case you missed it, here is a post about a couple of songs about Minnesota.  Well enough whoring for one day.

  • Where the Wild Things Are!!!!! my roommates have been blasting the soundtrack for a while now. sounds good!

  • Tension beats the sleep

  • I love The Office...and it's form of humor! My kids got me watching it a few years ago. I love Ricky Gervais (spelling)...wasn't he on the British version?! His movie Ghost Town is funny, and he has a new movie coming out that looks good. He reminds me of Peter Sellers, Steve Martin....I LOVE THEIR kind of humor!!

Reading your motivational poster choices for tonight made me almost pee my pantaloons! Seriously! Funny stuff! Thanks for motivating me!!

I read that book to the kids I taught years ago and to my own kids. Good book. I can't wait to see the movie. Good to hear your rec on the soundtrack!

  • Pam is super cute. she's not sexy, but she's totally the type of girl I wanna bring home to meet my parents.

  • I love the british office. My favorite episode is the one where they have the staff seminar on customer care. "See, racial."

  • hahaa the common sense one is great... :)

  • Now I'm MOTIVATED!  I'm going to the fridge and get my next beer. Mom can have a 10 minute break.   I wonder if Darwin would have been shocked to see that picture?   If it takes 2 idiots to make a moron, how many fools does it take to make an imbecile?  I'll ask that dog that has the computer skills. He probably knows more than the guys in the pool.

Thanks G.   You almost made me snork today!

  • Ha, i like the about to fail one.

  • lol oh british office.  in the uk they have a channel called paramount comedy. and they show all american shows. one of the commercials for the american office was like, "the office, like the british office...only better." no truer words were ever spoken. ;)

also that doggy picture reminds me of thirst base at miller park. awesome.

  • Great inspirational photos!  I laughed until the tears came.  I needed that.

  • I am not a fan of the office. I am actually upset that they are doing reruns of it now on i think it's tbs or tnt. I can't find anything to put on tv between 5 and 7 now (i like background noise and we watch tv while eating... seems the office is all that is on during that time).

  • Oh I have to watch The Office! Lol..

  • i think the office is stupid [shrug] can't stand steve carrell.

  • Thanks for the motivation. Superb as usual . . . you gotta get some sleep dude . . . your post has a kind of manic tone to it . . .. Take care of yourself, huh?

  • @Chinese_Sait0u -

Yeah how they use the music in the previews is quite excellent and Spike Jonze is a master of music videos so I am stoked.

  • @PeaceSearcher -

I need to find a way to create tension.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - sounds you love tension. and im in love with pains of love.

  • @carolinaatnight -

Ricky Gervais was the star of the British version. This new movie he is promoting, The Invention of Lying, looks somewhat funny. I love how in the first few episodes of the US Office it is basically the same as the British. Steve Carell looks like a buffoon trying to be Ricky Gervais.

Where the Wild Things Are was a personal favorite as a child and this movie means a lot. The guy who is directing has made numerous music videos so I am expecting him to make full use of music.

  • @oulck -

Exactly and Pam seems like the type of girl that will stick with you no matter what.

  • @NoGraySunflowers -

YES! I am enjoying that they have brought it stateside to Adult Swim on Friday nights.

  • @Peridot21 -

I would love to see what other things they do at that place.

  • @dikdoktor -

It takes 4 fools to make one imbecile. I only know that because of the historic wad accord that Bill Clinton oversaw when the dorkwads were at war with the gaywads. They had to establish the guidelines.

Glad I didn't make you lose any beer.

  • @darkarin88 -

    That would be so crappy

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

I have never understood why British programs do not have longevity. I mean their version of The Office only lasted about two seasons. I think this American version is on the 6th season.

Miller Park is quite awesome. I remember there were plans to make a series of aqueducts from Lake Michigan to the park so people could boat in. I like that they have kept the diamond from the old stadium and have little league games.

  • @NightlyDreams -

Yeah The Office is on TBS on Tuesday nights for three hours. I think that is overkill but then TBS overkills every show they air.

  • @rickystar1 -

It is a fun show and I like how they actually have storylines that last for more than one episode.

  • @BranmacFeabhail -

I have to agree. I think there have been only a few things of Carell's which I have enjoyed like his work on The Daily Show and Little Miss Sunshine. It's also funny how a few of his recent movies have bombed.

  • @jacksoncroons -

I crashed this evening. Supper hit me and I was out. Now I need to go back. I also need to put down the Hunter S Thompson. Thanks.

  • The Darwin Awards one is just hilarious!!!

  • Where are those sharky women when you need one?

    Take care of yourself, dude.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - I have an antenna, so no adult swim for me. But we invested in the dvd's ;)

  • Wow. British office was only on for 2 seasons? Crazy.

I love the american version. Steve Carell is hilarious. If I could I would carry him around in my pocket all the time and pull him out to make me laugh. I love him!

Also miller park is fun. I just hate that during afternoon games they still set off fireworks when the brewers score. No one can see fireworks in the sun. It is silly. :)

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - lol i know it ...but there's probably a good chance that there's no one left standing over there  ;)

  • @curiousdwk -

Tell me about it. And thank you

  • @starrynite45 -

I can't believe those guys are alive.

  • @NoGraySunflowers -

I am the same way. I can't always follow those shows late at night because I fall asleep plus the DVDs contain so much more especially the Aqua Teen Hunger Force ones.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

The thing is with those UK episodes is that most of the storylines made it into the American version.

There are times when watching the American version that I just want to punch Steve Carell but I suppose bosses are supposed to make you feel that way. I also hate Jim but that is for other reasons.

I never got the association with fireworks and baseball. I expect it has something to do with American traditions. Now they just need to incorporate apple pie into the games.

  • aww don't punch steve carell, I love him! ;p

at wrigley we don't have fireworks...just  really drunk and obnoxious yuppies. but the beer and hotdogs make it worth it.

ooh. apple pie. yes. it could be eaten...or thrown at the yuppies. A-MA-ZING!

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Gasp! "Does this make me look professional...." Best line of all time. Except it isn't because there are just. so. many.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

For you, I won't punch Carell.

Yuppies drunk on Old Pile...I mean Style.

I think I would love to throw apple pie at yuppies. Did you know it used to be state law in Wisconsin that when apple pie was served, cheese had to offered along with the pie? Cheddar cheese on apple pie...who would have thought it was so tasty.

  • :) thanks!

lol. yeah. I don't like old style. I'm more of a corona/sol kind of girl. miller is good and so is another beer I had a miller park...spotted cow...or something to do with cows.

and no I did not know that. cheddar cheese on apple pie? hmm...I guess I'd have to try it.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

Spotted Cow is one of my favorites. I could go on and on about that beer. The brewery is called New Glarus Brewing Company. They make another great one called Coffee Stout and yes, it tastes like coffee. Goes well with a cinnamon roll in the morning.

I am not a fan of Old Style although I think it was the first beer I ever had when I was 3. I still remember sitting at a bar in the Dells drinking silo cans of Old Style all night. That was a blast and then getting kicked out of Denny's...too much fun.

  • :) I've only ever had spotted cow once in my life and I am forever changed. I have to drive back up to your state to get some more it sooo delicious. And I'm not even a beer girl. I'm more of a red wine/hard alcohol kind of girl.
And coffee beer? Intriguing. There's a beer I had called frulli. And it is fruit beer. My favorite is the strawberry straight from the tap. Give me a pint of that and I am happy.

Lol. :) I've never been kicked out of anywhere for being a drunken fool. ;)

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

Yeah 3 hour is a bit much. Although if it was somehting i liked I might feel different.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

I still remember my first Spotted Cow. It's sad that I remember that more than other firsts. New Glarus puts out so many excellent beers. If you like red wine they put out a Cherry beer and a Raspberry beer and they come in wine bottles. Those two beers have won major awards. Leinenkugel's has a Berry Weiss beer and that is so good. When I was living in Minnesota there was a small brewery that made a strawberry beer. I didn't care for it but that is because I hate strawberries. I think Moosejaw in the Dells makes a strawberry beer. I know they made a blueberry one that wasn't half bad.

  • Ooh! I loooooove strawberries!!! My favorite drink is champagne with a strawberry puree. That and mangoes. I love mangoes.

Those beers sound soo good. I'm going to have to make a trip to that brewery! For spotted cow and for the cherry beer. :)

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

I make a mean mango salsa. Oh and I like cherries in my champagne.

The college I attended was about a mile from a brewery and on weekends we would do tours and it was great because the dean was a tour leader. Usually he would put one bottle on a table for all the people to sample but for us, he would place a 6 pack and there may have been 3 or four of us. Of course he would do that for 4 or 5 beers so we could drink a lot for only a $2 tour.

  • That's amazing.

I'll say this my favorite drink is a free one. ;) without fail.
And mango salsa? Hmmm...I've never had that. Sounds delicious. :)

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

Free drinks are always nice. The haunted bar that I frequent gives me free drinks because I advertise here and have written stuff for the owner.

I just usually eat the mango salsa with tortilla chips but I have heard it can go well with fish.

  • Ah I see. I usually get free drinks for dancing kind of slutty with someone or because they like my boobs. But your way seems much more wholesome.

Mango salsa with fish. Sounds weird.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

I'm jealous. If I go and dance slutty I get the police called on me.

I am not much of a seafood person so I probably won't figure out if it tastes good for quite some time.

  • Lol. Aw. I'm sure they just can't appreciate the sexiness of your slutty dancing. Maybe one day. If no one does then I'll buy u a drink. ;) just to make u stop without police intervention.

  • Shite, this is an awful word to begin your sentence with. Anyway, that imminent fail is fantastic. It encompasses the essence of the world! Bravo!

  • @windoftheforest -

    Hmmm...shite...I rather like that word.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

I have never found a suitable comparison to my dancing. There is a strip club around here that features a ladies night twice a month. I have always thought of trying out for that but you'd have to imagine...well there isn't anything you can imagine without wanting to pour bleach in your eyes to forget the image.

  • Hahahahahahaha. I'm sure it's not that bad. Well not bad enough to require bleach. Therapy? Hmmm maybe. ;) lol.

  • @TheSecretLifeOfPandas -

well I guess that is a consolation. I'll just stick to going there to work as a bouncer.

  • I think that would probably be best. ;)
