Monday Morning Mash-Up Madness
I hope everyone's weekend has been going swimmingly. Mine was OK. I had one of the most memorable text conversations before and during part of the Badgers' game, which was a downer. Oh and I was possibly exposed to the H1N1 from my mom. We were shopping and she was sick. She was saying that the hospital where she works told her to stay home and not come in because there was nothing they could do. I'm freaking out but that is because I tend to be a hypochondriac. I also had to change a flat tire on my dad's car. He picked up an Amish horse shoe nail. Anyway time for music.
This mash-up takes a song by The Game and mixes it with "Californication" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I have to admit that I don't know what the song is from The Game because most mainstream rap hasn't been my thing the past few years. It's quite possibly because I am getting mellow and all the rappers talk fast about is bitches, money, and drugs. Also it took me a while to remember the RCHP song. Have you noticed that all their stuff the last few years all sounds the same? Sort of like emo Green Day?
I just got done saying I'm not much into mainstream rap. I know that this one is "Drop it Like it's Hot" by Snoop Doggy Dogg versus "Voodoo Chile" by Jimi Hendrix. That Snoop song was everywhere at its peak so I had to hear it. The Jimi song is quite possibly my favorite Hendrix song. For the wrestling fans out there, Hulk Hogan used "Voodoo Chile" as his entrance music when he was a bad guy. OK I'm a nerdy wrestling fan...next.
I love this one. The DJ calls it Bootystition. It combines "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child and mixes it with my favorite Stevie Wonder song "Superstition". It really works and is quite funky. I think Beyonce heard this one before she recorded that song for the Austin Powers movie in which she also had a role. The songs seem quite similar.
Video Mash-Up Bonus:
This video takes a Roman Polanski interview and mixes it with well....you have to see it to believe it.We love you, Chevy!

Roman, Roman, Roman *shakes head*
...and yeah, mash-up# 36 is thuh bomb
...i like it, and i'm reminded of Janet Jackson, although I'm not really sure why... o.O
The Snoop-Hendrix mashup was sublime. Who comes up with this stuff?
And the Roman Polanski confrontation with Chris Hansen is priceless!
Hey, I'm writing again. Might have a post by tonight.
Yeah... yeah... we love you, Chevy!
Of those 3, the last one is my favorite! GREAT video Mash-up, too! That Chris Hansen! I like to watch him catch predators! "Piss off"! ha!
Happy Monday to you, Godfather of all Godfathers!
HUGS, too!
lol roman polanski.
i had never actually heard that snoop dogg song until a few years after all the hype was over. good mashup though; jimi makes it worth hearing
i hope you don't have the hini flu (watched jay leno and his headlines tonight).
We got socked by snow on account of Jesse, well damn I'm glad I didn't vote for him
Ah swine flu!
When I get sick, I get REALLY sick. this past spring when everyone was running around screaming, "oh my gosh swine flue is going to kill us all" I had gotten really sick. but since I had to be constantly editing I had to go into the editing room. I told the editor of our show that I had the swine flu. she told me that if I died she'd be able to say she knew someone who had the swine flu.
she was killing me off so she could tell a story.
hope you don't have it. that would totally suck.
@Peridot21 -
Hmmm I am trying to think of the Janet Jackson connection. I am not much of a fan...I should rephrase that, I don't really listen to any of her material.
@MelFamy -
I guess people who have quite the ear for music can discern different beats and hear how music fits. I used to sit with two or three stereos playing random songs in the hopes of finding two tracks that matched up. And that Roman Polanski interview had me in stitches.
I'm looking forward to your writing.
@RestlessButterfly -
Oh hear I was hoping to hear people loved me
@carolinaatnight -
Thank you, I first saw that video this weekend and was in stitches when I first saw it.
This capo tutti di capi had an excellent Monday. I hope yours was enjoyable as well.
@UR_MUSE -
I love that video.
@BranmacFeabhail -
I am surprised that there are a few great Jimi mashes out there. The best, I'll have to look for, mixes Crosstown Traffic with a song by JLO and it is pulled off quite well.
@NightlyDreams -
Oh I don't think I will because my mom was jumping the gun a bit and had a test run and the initial test came back negative so they don't think the thorough test will show it either.
@ElevenStones -
I didn't but a lot of my college friends did. They thought the novelty of their first attempt of voting being for a former professional wrestler was too hard to pass up. Well I won't mention any of the other jokers people at my college saw get elected.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
My mom jumped the gun. She's a nurse and all her symptoms were in line but the test came back negative. That stuff is nuts. When I was in the Madison airport this spring they had hand sanitizer and masks everywhere. It's crazy the precautions but I guess it is good because people aren't dropping dead all over the place.
The only thing I have felt is having a little stuffiness but that could be from allergies.
yeah they were giving out little hand sanitizer bottles all over campus. since I used to get there insanely early I managed to get a bottle before they ran out.
and matt...only nerds have allergies. ;p
wait...I'm allergic to cats. shit...that makes me a nerd.
@godfatherofgreenbay - best i can figure is that the song sounds "Janet-like"...yeah, how 'bout let's go with that lol
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
Whenever I go anywhere I carry around a little bottle of sanitizer. I think I am turning into Howard Hughes.
Oh you wouldn't like me because I have cats.
I am proud to nerd it up from time to time but that usually means most of the time.
OHHH! I've got a mashup for you that totally works perfectly! Christina A., "Dirty", with Diana Ross's, "Upside Down." It should be easy to find out there and I was shocked at how well it really worked.
@ExposedWrists -
I will have to look for that one. Christina is notorious for having songs that work ridiculously well for mashing. "Genie in a Bottle" is one of those songs that have been mashed to death. I think my guilty little pleasure is "Genie in a Bottle" with The Strokes. They call it A Stroke of Genius.
hahaha. I do the same, but that is cuz my immune system is crap.
meh. my best friend has cats. it doesn't stop me from going to her house on sunday nights for lesbian carb night. amazing.
I'm nerdy...but I fear my nerdy leans more towards lame nerd with glasses than anything else. it is of course sad.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
Lesbian carb night sounds AMAZING!
Nerdiness is way better than airheadedness.
@godfatherofgreenbay - lesbian carb night is amazing.
so far it's involved pizza and beer and lasagna and wine. and talking about sexy women that we'd do. I of course wouldn't actually sleep with these women...but she would. so that is the lesbian bit. it is her lesbian love pad. she's bi. so then we swing back to talking about sexy boys and call it a night. I just pop a benadryl so that I my throat and eyes don't get super itchy and close up.
it's lovely. you have to make some sacrifices.
yay! airheadedness is lame.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
Can I come to lesbian carb night. I am a lesbian...yes, that was my typical guy self shining through. I take these pills that help with allergies. Claritin but not Claritin, they are the Walgreen's brand Walitrin. I love them.
lol.
well I go...and I'm not a lesbian. there would be some cuddling if that doesn't bother you? lol!!!! actually I think there is a no boy policy.
and walitrin. sounds awesome!!!!
I love the walgreen's brand of crap. lol.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
well I have been told I am teddy bear-esque so I am built for cuddling and love human contact from those that I wish to receive contact. Damn, no boys. That's sexist.
I always love going to Walgreen's just looking through all their knock off products. Walgreen's also introduced me to the boxed cookie dough bites in the candy section.
LOL. It is sexist. but there are rules. so sorry. ;p
Yeah add wal to anything and it's magical. and boxed cookie dough bites?
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
Well damn the rules. Be a rebel!
Yes, cookie dough bites. They must not be "real" cookie dough because they aren't refrigerated. They are chocolate chip cookie dough but they have two varieties. One is regular just the cookie dough and then the other kind is cookie dough covered in chocolate. The funny thing is that they are cheaper at Walgreen's than at the Dollar Tree.
lol.
I'm too much of a good girl to rebel.
lol.
and I've never had that. I only like cookie dough in ice cream.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
OK I will not talk you into overthrowing the Lesbian Carb Night and ruling with an iron fist and I would be your assistant regional dictator.
Now I am hungry for cookie dough
lol.
it would not be lesbian carb night any longer, it would just be carb night...and then I would feel extremely guilty about all the carbs. lol.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas -
Well if you rule you can make something else go along with the carbs...art? roller derby? kareoke? air guitar? video games? male strippers? The possibilities are endless.
hahaha.
ooh karaoke!
