  • Monday Morning Mash-Up Madness

I just got a gross of casino playing cards.  144 packs.  I have no clue what I am going to do with all the cards but I am going to do something with them.  Actually I think I am going to use them for something at church.  It's been a tradition at my church that every Christmas they give the children a bag filled with peanuts, candy, an apple and an orange because years ago that may have been the only "present" children received.  I may throw in a deck of cards with the bags.  Friends and readers living in my vicinity, let me know if you are in need of playing cards.

    Music:

This mash-up contains "Crushed" by Paramore and "Pony" by Ginuwine.  "Pony" is the music and what a college classmate that I found extremely cute although the feeling was not reciprocated called "The Burp Song".  It does somewhat sound like some one burping.  Want to experiment?  Who out there wants to feed me beer to see if I start singing?  I actually am more prone to sing whilst drinking.  There was that one time sitting on the curb singing the Soviet national anthem and some Russian people across the street joined in with me.  Who knew communism could provide such great memories?

OK this little ditty is "The Hand that Feeds" by Nine Inch Nails vs. "If You Seek Amy" by Britney Spears.  I love this one.  Trent Reznor is a musical genius.  I would be interested to see if there was a crossover with this one where the music from "The Hand that Feeds" works with the vocals from "If You Seek Amy".  Anyway if you have time check out the video for "The Hand that Feeds".  The instrumentals for that song just blow my socks off and I have large socks.

This mash-up contains 3 songs: "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed, and "Blues Music" by G. Love and Special Sauce.  It's not that often that you see John Lennon or Lou Reed in a mash-up and then considering they are in the same mash-up...phenomenal.

    I was such a dork.

Actually it's not me but can you imagine if it was?  If you see that handsome little bastard on facebook, well then you have found me for the time being.

A lot of people say I'm "not playing with a full deck" but the joke's on them because I'm playing Uno.  Wait I am playing with a full deck...144 full decks.

  • i luv the Nine Inch Nails/Britney mash up... that sounds really cool (but again, bleh Britney lol)

that would be a great idea to put a deck of cards in the kids' bags... but umm why do you have a gross of them?

and you're gonna use the lil He-Man pic as your facebook pic? is that what you mean there? lol

  • evidentally i didn't get the uno joke. but i've been up all night with no sleep.

  • Is that a picture of  Screach - the kid from "Saved By the Bell?'   How in the heck did you get a gross of cards? Planning on having a monster crib tournament?  You should start up a casino in the back yard. Get some cheap booze, cheap women, -  we could make some money!!!

  • I liked the second one best. :)

  • #2 mash-up is not bad.

  • I like the mash-ups!! I saw G-love in concert over the summer, he was really good.

I really do love that Nine Inch Nails song to begin with so that was a good one for me.

I got a case because that is what they come in. It used to be that anyone could go to the casino down here and ask for a deck of cards and they would oblige. Well something happened and now they only give them out to organizations so I asked my dad what I needed and he said a note with letterhead so I wrote up a request because I am after all the president of my church. That box of cards weighs so much. Maybe I will get a photo of it so you can see what that many cards looks like.

Yes, I am now using that photo as my facebook photo. I usually rotate funny profile photos on facebook.

  • @NightlyDreams -

Well I think there are way more cards in an Uno deck.

  • @dikdoktor -

You know, I think that is Screech. I didn't notice until a couple people here mentioned it.

I got a gross because the casino won't let you just take a couple. You get a case or you get none. And since I am president of my church, I wrote a letter requesting cards and my dad picked them up for me. They are quality cards since they were used on the casino floor for either blackjack or poker. Casinos have to get rid of the cards and I haven't figured out why so the local one will hand out freebies to organizations. The only thing is, there is a hole drilled through the center. That is so they can't be reused at a casino.

I am going to hand them out at church.

  • @SeeBeeWrite -

Yes, I think that is my favorite of this batch.

  • @RestlessButterfly -

Yeah I think that one is my favorite as well.

  • @msbutterfli -

Thanks, out of all these people the only act I have seen live is Nine Inch Nails. That was an intense concert. A group from my school went and one guy in our group actually got so close in the mosh pit that he reached up and stole one of Trent Reznor's gloves.

  • @carolinaatnight -

Thank you for commenting. I am glad you enjoyed these. You know, I don't think I realized that was Screech until you mentioned it.

  • When I was about 11 years old, I started to get interested in magic.  (A many kids do.)  So I saved my money and bought a deck of cards.  My father had a fit.  Playing cards were of the devil and even though I wasn't playing poker or anything with them, they were an indication of the devil's playground.  So I never got to be the magician I was probably meant to be (smile).  And when I read you were thinking of giving them away at church I chuckled that it was a far different church than mine.

  • @curiousdwk -

Well the funny thing with cards...when I was growing up the Catholic bishop in the area stepped in and spoke against how a heritage group had card playing events once a month on a Sunday. I think they played Sheepshead. Anyway the heritage society did it to raise money for a yearly town celebration. The people gave in and they no longer do anything like that. Oh and another bishop stepped in and made a major decision for the church here in town. This yearly celebration I mentioned before is to celebrate the Czech heritage and part of that involves Catholicism and polka music so they combine the two. They have a Saturday afternoon polka mass. It's just like a regular mass however the music is provided by a polka band. This bishop said no to it and wouldn't give any reason why. One of these days I am going to celebrate my German heritage by going to the Czech celebration and demand appeasement.

  • Perhaps you should go to a German Catholic church and see about buying some indulgences also.  (smile)

  • @curiousdwk -

Yes, I did try in the year 2000 or so when the Vatican offered indulgences to all who quit smoking. The only downfall was that I had to be part of the Catholic church because there is no salvation outside of Catholicism.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - yeahhhh, do that... get a pic of the cards... i'd like to see it cause i srsly have no idea what it might look like

  • @Peridot21 -

Because I had nothing better to last night than watch The Office and Sons of Anarchy, I stacked them and took a picture in my messy den.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - lol aww but watching The Office is fuuuunnnn... and yay can't wait to see it! :)
