  • Lukewarm Links 15

It's time for another week's worth of links.  I don't have much to say here since it is so cold and it is chilling me to the bone.  According to my thermometer it is 2F but feels like -13F.  For those of you who don't have the Fahrenheit that's -16C and -25C.  Hmmm Fahrenheit sounds warmer.

#1.  So now that it is winter, I'm really missing summer and I am definitely missing the 21 things featured on this website....probably not safe for work...Although there are those winter festivals up here where the girls go wild and suffer from frostbite and who can forget the Lambeau Field Bikini Girls...I'll be OK...maybe I will have to work on that pictorial of the Girls of Xanga.

#2.  I went to this website and I wasn't able to sleep for a week.  The images were seared into my memory.  It's the results from a photoshop contest to place Gary Busey in every famous photo.

#3.  You know most stars don't become movie stars overnight.  Usually they have bit roles before they come big.  Here is a list of 10 strange debuts of major movie stars.  A few of those movies are great and I had to re-watch them just to see those stars.

#4.  Thanks to B-Money for sending this my way.  It describes a lawsuit by a guy against an underwear company.  I couldn't make it through without laughing.  The funny thing is I knew a guy like that but I think he was more extreme.  He thought even touching it was wrong so he wouldn't touch it to go to the bathroom.

#5.  KNOW YOUR WISCONSIN STATE HISTORY!  I didn't make it to Madison today to put the flowers in Lake Monona.

#6.  You know how LOLcatz allows people to make their own captions for photos?  Well sometimes those captions make no sense.  Someone started their own website called Unrelated Captions.  I love that site.

#7.  Have you ever wondered how many people are currently in outer-space?  Well this website tells you the exact number at any given time.

#8.  I've noticed that people share webcomics on Xanga quite frequently.  Well I have shown you Garfield minus Garfield and the Lost in Translation Garfield.  Now I present Garfield as Garfield. It replaces Garfield the cat with Garfield the President.

#9.  Since we're strolling down memory lane, I once presented Look at this Fucking Hipster.  Now enjoy Look at this Fucking Teabagger...no it's not the teabagging that I usually talk about.  It's the teabagging that people took upon themselves without knowing anything of the sexual connations and proudly said they liked to teabag.

#10.  Here are 10 Foods that never caught on...thank god.  I can only remember one of those items, the Funky Fries.  My mom bought those because for some reason she was nuts for them.

#11. And while we are on the food theme, here is a list of foods named after people.  You know reading about the Graham Cracker and also about Corn Flakes, it's amazing how many foods that I enjoy were created to keep people from having impure thoughts and their hands off their naughty bits.  They never tested the products on me.

#12.  A while back I posted a link to Omegle, the one on one chat site to talk with complete strangers.  A lot of people go there for pranks and others go there for cyber sex.  Well here is a combination of the two.  It is one of the best pranks ever.  The Rick Roll will never die.

#13.  Are you planning a Christmas vacation?  Why not try beautiful Mogadishu?  Here is a wonderful travel guide.  If you do go and want to get me a souvenir, I would love an AK47.

#14.  I enjoy the comic books.  A while back I enjoyed making fun of the crappy covers and stories of comic books.  Well I decided to stop making fun of them for this link.  It's a link to the scariest villians in comic book history.  It's fitting that The Joker made #1.  I just want you to know this isn't based on The Dark Knight or Jack Nicholson's performance.

#15.  I enjoy news bloopers and here are some of the best.

OK here are some photos of a snowstorm but not the last snowstorm.  It got so cold outside so quickly that I was afraid to take my camera outdoors.

This is a view from my driveway.  That it the town library.

This is looking toward the gas station and mechanic's at the bottom of my driveway.

This is looking the other direction at the bottom of my driveway.

    My car covered in snow.

I don't pick all my apples because I leave something for the birds to pick at.

That was a storm of about 16 inches of snow just like this week.

  • Too much Gary Busy.. the only plus side to that is it isn't Jake Busey..

And I used to fish in Monona..if I remember right.

  • some links are awesome... Jim Davis went to college at the school I am attending!

  • I like the 10 foods that failed link...good stuff.

  • Baby it seems you ahve tough times with showel in hand:)

  • Collect wood from nearbye jungle and burn it all over your way, so that snow is gone:)

  • Whoo Snow!! :) LOL those Gary Busey pictures were so funny!
Looking at all those foods named after people made my mouth water...
LMAO! those news bloopers are CLASSIC! =D

  • WOW, I was just watching one of the news bloopers, and there was a news story on my university!! It was the STREAKER ONE!! LOL!! WOW!!

  • lol link# 7 is totally awesome... sooo random but totally awesome ;D

great snow pictures :) ...i love the ruler one lol ...i used to do that when i lived in Connecticut (man oh man can it snow there! and to make it worse, i lived on a mountain! hah) ...i remember one winter, there was so. much. snow. that a neighbor's swingset was covered more than halfway up the swing chains... it was so weeeeird and cool at the same time lol...

and re your audio comment: yeah, i heart that song (it's my current "listen to it over and over and over again" song lol) ...the one guy in The Postal Service is from Death Cab from Cutie (but I'm sure you know that ;) ...didn't know that the USPS wasn't happy about it at first... have heard it in their commercial though :)

  • oops made a stoopid typo... Death Cab *for* Cutie ;P

  • I wish there would be snow in london just for xmas... but after that i would wish the snow to disapear very fast... :D

  • Mmm....the Randy Raft.  Wow!  I know what I'm going to do next summer!!!

  • I didn't know about Omegle before. i have been trolling all morning. This is hilarious.

  • i don't think I would ever go outside if i lived up there. i barely want to walk across the parking lot at work in 50 degree weather. can't imagine what you go threw. do things just shut down for the whole winter or what?

  • So lovely those pictures!  Clean and pure white!

  • The snow pictures are so beautiful but I'm glad we don't have it here yet!

  • Re the teabaggers:  They, like the abortion protesters, I have found to be people who are in love with their level of commitment.  They are not commited because of values, or beliefs, but rather they love an opportunity to display their level of commitment.  Insane causes gives them that opportunity and makes them feel good.

These are the reasons why I am not in favor of Democracy.

  • @TheGiantSlayer -

Yeah it does provide entertainment. I just love how it can be so random.

  • @Paul_Partisan -

Because of that link, I didn't write about how Gary and his girlfriend were expecting in my celebrity round up. The creepy thing is that she has that same crazy stare. I shudder when I think of what their child will look like.

  • @dlmcniel -

Hmmm David Letterman went to your school as well. One of my high school classmates went to your school and she received a bundle of information and it included a lot about the famous alumni.

  • @Cookstergirl88 -

I get dry heaves when I think of the coffee flavored Jell-O from that list

  • @PeaceSearcher -

Yeah burning forests would be great to get rid of the snow however we don't have jungles around here. Maybe they were already burnt to get rid of snow.

  • @mZdejavuZ -

Snow...meh...it looks nice but it is heck on the back.

Please tell me you weren't drooling over the coffee flavored Jell-O.

Some of those Gary Busey photos look real.

That is hilarious that it was your school.

  • @Peridot21 -

That #7 link came after you did that post about those websites with the question for the URL and the simple answer on the page.

I remember snowstorms like the one you mentioned. One year, at Christmas time we had a Nativity set in the front yard and the snow covered it so we couldn't take it down until there was some thaw because the snow got so hard and basically packed it in.

So you have lived all over the US? That is pretty cool.

Oh and the UPS commercials are of this guy drawing on a whiteboard or maybe he just draws in the air and it shows up.

  • @GloomySunday1 -

Thank you...I try to do a post of links once a week. And before you think I go around looking for these, people send me quite a few.

  • @BranmacFeabhail -

I'm sorry, I will have to make it up for you. Should I write a letter to your teacher and explain how these links are important.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Haha I was wondering where you found them.

  • @tweeny_tear -

Yeah that is about how I feel right now.

  • @Another_Perfect_Wonder -

Keep me posted...oh wait...I think my favorite would be the Randy Recliner

  • @NightlyDreams -

Oh no, things don't shut down. I remember the coldest day of the year last year was around -20 and the windchill made it feel -40 to -50. My car froze shut so I had to hitch a ride with someone but anyway we had church that day and then I went to a cafe in town for lunch.

  • @RestlessButterfly -

Thank you...it does seem so peaceful after a snowfall.

  • @nattata -

Be thankful that you don't have that much snow.

  • @curiousdwk -

I also thought for some of those teabaggers there was a silent contest going on in which they were trying to have the most offensive sign.

  • that snow makes me want to shoot myself, but glad that i dont live wherever that is. X_X

  • Motherfuc...I drool when see that much snow. How awesome! The awesomest lol

So you live across the town library? (the building looks great) Man, now I know where you live!

  • @darkarin88 -

be thankful you don't have the snow. It's hard on the back for shoveling. Also it means cold although today it seemed warm, 30F.

  • @windoftheforest -

I know I hate snow but that is mostly because of the shoveling and how the idiot snowplow drivers seem to wait for the moment I get my driveway cleared and they come along and plow it shut. But sledding and skiing and snowballs and the like...that can be fun.

Uh-oh, please don't come and stalk me. OR should you? You seem like you would be a better stalker than the 2 I have here.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

mississippi would completely shut down if it got that cold. that's insane ya'll actually go out and do stuff. i'd hybernate all winter.

  • @NightlyDreams -

I don't know what it is but going out in that cold is invigorating. Last year when it hit -20 and the windchill was around -40, I went out in nothing but a hoodie. I realize it was stupid but it made my body feel so alive but that was probably just hypothermia.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

you were NAKED! except for a hoodie?!! i'm surprised something didn't fall off lol

  • @NightlyDreams -

Hmmm I like the way you think but I should have been specific, like for a covering. Usually people bundle up in multiple layers. I just had on my regular clothes and a hoodie for my jacket.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

i don't think she'd appreciate it. the class is over now anyway, thanks though. or should it be "...over now, anyway thanks though?" i love 'anyway' but it doesn't belong anywhere properly and is a totally superfluous word. shit.

hope you are having a good day anyway.

  • wow. 30. is warm? ughh : //

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

well that took it down a notch from exciting...

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - wait, does that mean you remembered one of my posts?  you actually remembered?? *hugs you and starts to cry -- happy tears* hah ;P

and yeah, i've lived in more than a handful of states... just can't sit still, i reckon :)

  • @Peridot21 -

Oh don't cry, I have somewhat of a good memory. Maybe it's because I haven't had a drink in over a month, maybe two months now.

That is cool that you got to live in different states. I have basically spent my entire life in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I did have summers where I stayed in Dallas, Philly, and the OC.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - ok, i'll stop then *sniff sniff* ;)

  • @Peridot21 -

Oh that's what I like, cheer up.

  • @Peridot21 -

Just reviewing some old posts...you have lived all over. Not only are you a wizard, you have to be a top secret spy.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - uh ohhh, you figured it out... oh well, it was bound to happen eventually... but now i'm gonna have to move agaaaain. ;)

  • @Peridot21 -

NO! I am so sorry please forgive me.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - hmmm i'll think about it. ......just kidding of course =P ...all forgiven. =)

  • @Peridot21 -

Thank you...so how about that weather. It's 58 here and will get to the mid 60s and the low tonight is projected to be 44. Just last week I was roasting.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - :) ...yep, i know about that wisconsin weather ...although, i do like it in the summer cause it's nice and warm during the day, but (more often than not) it cools way down and you have to wear jeans and a sweatshirt (especially if you were gonna be out on a boat, which we were a lot) ...i remember one summer a few years back, some friends of mine were going to drive up and stay with us at the lake house and i told them to bring warm clothes ...they couldn't understand why ...until they spent their first night there! lol =)

  • @Peridot21 -

Oh I love nights like that. You get two seasons in a 24 hour period. It was misting while I was picking apples and the mist was so fine and cold it felt like snowflakes.

Oh and how about this Xanga chat?

Oh and I think I was going to email you about that one post I wrote.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - yeah, xanga chat... i opted out, for now anyway... have you used it yet? ...oh, and what one post do you mean?

  • @Peridot21 -

yeah, Xanga IM is awkward for me because these people are now alive. I'm not surprised that I am not getting a slew of messages. You would probably be getting them left and right so it's wise that you opted out.

It was that post about my lost love but I guess I am too shy. I need to get stuff out but I can't share with anyone. I don't know what's wrong with me. Anyway...tomorrow...The Office.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - hmm i don't know about getting them left and right, but that's nice of you to say nonetheless :) ...idk, maybe i'll try it at some point.

oh ok, that post ...talking about it again brought up too many memories? ....sometimes talking about it helps and, sadly, sometimes it doesn't, i suppose. :(

  • @Peridot21 -

Well if I were to make a list of the kindest and most genuine people on Xanga, you would top the list but I digress or what have you.

I think I needed to get out because just being around home made me dwell on things. I've been working on a float for my church for the town's labor day celebration. That was fun but a lot of work. I got up early to put the finishing touches on it and then I rode through the parade. FUN TIMES! After I grilled steaks for my parents and aunt. Then once dishes were washed my aunt talked about an Amish auction where they bring in produce and it gets auctioned off. We got there right as it was wrapping up but it was still fun to see little Amish boys driving teams of horses and hauling huge wagons full of pumpkins. Then we went to this cheese store. I bought the strangest thing...dried peas covered in wasabi. And of course...fresh cheese curds right out of the vat.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - oh, see that, more gush-fest-ing! ;) thank you though... and right back at ya, btw! =) ...glad getting out helped some, it does tend to go a long way towards, at least, causing a distraction, ya know? =/ ...sounds like your parade was just tons of fun, looking forward to the pics ...oh, and i went to the cheese store link, that stuff looks so yummy, the cheese... and the jam? Mmmm! ...but now i have another Amish question, they can have a website on the internet??

  • @Peridot21 -

I don't think I can be that genuine when I rarely post photos of myself. I think I can count on one hand how many are on my Xanga and of those only two reveals my whole self. Oh well, thanks for the compliment...see need more practice.
Yeah, getting out to take my mind off stuff worked but now I want to go back and buy more stuff. I was thinking of having a contest that mocks the Miss Xanga contest. That one seems to promote conceit so I want one that promotes modesty. The only reason I thought that was because at this cheese shop they were selling Amish bonnets. I think that would be a fun prize to give to someone or it would even make a great Christmas present. Oh there is this stuff that they mention on the jams pages that's called Bowlby's Bits. My aunt got some and it was so good. At first I thought it was a bag of Cinnamon Toaast Crunch but I tried it and it tasted just like cashews even though it was made from soybeans. The good thing about it is that people who are allergic to nuts can eat it. Oh and if you ever want anything, just let me know.
As for the Amish, that place is run by non-Amish. They just co-op with them to produce cheese from the milk. But here's the thing. I think I explained it to someone over in my Porn for Amish post but if it promotes their business then they can do it. And did you know the Amish are communist? All the money they get from their farm work is pooled for the community to use and that's mostly to buy land or pay for hospital bills since they don't have insurance. The money they make on side jobs they can keep. Anyway, I've heard of some Amish that have websites to promote cabinetry and quilts but I don't think they are around here but maybe family in a different community does that for them. The Amish around here are pretty strict compared to the ones in Pennsylvania and Indiana.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - hmm i think a person can still be genuine without photos... i mean as long as they're not pretending to be something they're not, ya know?  like some of those girls that post pics that are not of them but pretend that they are (laaaame) =/ ...besides, i've seen your football pic aaaand i remember a post from a while ago (don't think i knew you yet) that a female xangan did about you, and your face was on that post cause she posted your pic (ok, this is where you're supposed to be impressed with my fantastic memory lol) ...your idea for a contest sounds good, although you could prolly count on one hand the number of xangans that would enter heh =P

  • @Peridot21 -

I like to pretend I'm somethings I'm not but I don't broadcast it. Dreams are fun like that. That is some impressive memory. I tried to block that out or at least block out that Xangan. Ugh...every time I think about her it just makes me sick but I shouldn't be like that, right. Yeah, I figure posing half-naked is more popular than modesty. Dnag...now that I think of it, none of those contests on Xanga promote modesty but then I guess that is up most people's alleys.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - ack really?  so you mean she was umm a fan of yours but you were not a fan of hers??  did she do that without permission?  not sure i'd like that either if someone did that ...still, it was a nice, complimentary post, right? ...ohhh wait, was she one of them there stalker types?? =/
