  • Monday Morning Mash-Up Madness

I had some time to think this afternoon and I get dangerous when I think.  This time I wasn't plotting world domination but I was once again thinking of food that revolts me.  There is one meal that if you served it to me, I would cease being your friend.  It's an omelet.  What's so bad about that?  Well if one of the ingredients happens to be chicken I will go ape-poop.  Just typing about a chicken omelet is giving me the dry heaves.  Other food I can't stand...cauliflower, broccoli, squash, and strawberries.  For realz, I can't stand strawberries.  I may be allergic but I'm not sure.  When they are near me I start having asthma attacks.  So if you want to de-friend me and unsub for life, invite to your house and serve me a meal consisting of chicken omelets, broccoli, and strawberries...I think I am going to be sick.

    Music:

This mash-up consists of "Walk this Way" by Aerosmith, "Block Rockin' Beats" by Chemical Brothers, and "Give it Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.  The DJ also said there was a bit of Otis Redding in that mash-up but I could find it.  Honestly I adore this mash-up.  I love how the music flows seamlessly between "Walk this Way" and "Block Rockin' Beats".

OK for those of you who read my Celebrity Round Up, you will know why I included this mash-up.  It's "All I Need" by Air mashed with "Smile" by Lily Allen.  Seriously, her vocals...it's angelic.  Maybe it's because I have a thing for girls with accents.

This mash-up...this is the mash-up.  I secretly think that Bob Marley was able to see the future and heard the other song of the mash-up and went back in time to write "This Love".  With all that ganj he smoked it's vey well possible and if I remember correctly he is highly revered in the Rastafarian religion.  Anyway this mash-up takes Bob Marley's "This Love" and mixes it with Softcell's "Tainted Love".  I was really getting down to this one while I was flexing my mathematical muscles earlier this evening.

Here's a bonus mash-up for all my Jewish friends out there.  Mazel Tov!   For the goyim out there, it's Hanukkah.  And for those people that are demanding stores say "Happy Holidays", remember Hannakuh has been celebrated hundreds of years before Christ was born and besides that Christ was born in April...just saying.  Anyway this mash-up is a song from Sarah Silverman called "Give Da Jew Girl a Toy".  It 's mashed with what could perhaps be the greatest song to ever come out of Germany.  That song is "Da Da Da" by Trio.  Back in the late 90s, "Da Da Da" was used in Volkswagen ads.  I rushed out to the Best Buy and bought that album.  It helped my German.

Really...what is wrong with kids these days?

TAKE IT SANTA!  I think this brings new meaning to my recent thoughts of "screw Christmas".

I was reading a report today that people identified Adam Sandler's Hanukkah songs with Hanukkah over the Dreidl song.

Well bubeleh, remember Hanukkah Harry has to schlep all your toys to you so be a mensch and leave him some nice matzah.  Your meschuga to not leave anything out for Hanukkah Harry...why that is plain chutzpah!  Also don't be a kolboynick and deny the existence of Hanukkah Harry.  Drek for you, putz!

    Happy Hanukkah!  Rosh Tov!

  • are you revolted by a boiled egg? i suspect you may be allergic to all those foods you mentioned. they are common food items to be allergic to except squash.

  • I threw up in my mouth a little bit just reading the work cauliflower.

  • I had never had an omlette until I was 23. I went to New Orleans with friends and ate at La Madalaines (been there for centuries lol). It was the best thing I had ever eaten in my life. I haven't found an omlette since that I liked though. Maybe it's just the preparer and ingredients that turn you off? I can't imagine a chicken omlette tasting good. Chicken and egg together just sounds bad.
I like all those veggies too. You probably are allergic to strawberries though. I would stay away just in case.

  • lol aww you and your omelet aversion (hey, that would be a good name for a band, don'tcha think? ;) ...ironically (or idk maybe oddly) enough, i have an icky omelet story... but i will not tell it to you, because you would deff be sick hehe ;P

i'm likin' mashups # 66 and 67... i remember that Da Da Da song... and always liked it :)

  • Wow you're tough to feed!  You don't like any of the good stuff!  Well, not in food anyway.  Your taste in music is pretty good.  The Give the Jew Girl Toys mashup with Da Da Da was cute.

  • HAPPY Hanukkah!! Hanukkah is way better than xmas.

  • !!!!
You make me feel like a human trash can. I like all those foods!

  • bleck. Eggs so get ruined if prepared wrong once..

  • What the HELL is wrong with you? Those foods are awesome! Haha still love ya though :D

  • Oh, are you Jewish?

Interesting post....and hmmm...heaves eh for eggs...omelette? what about sunny side? is that okay? scrabble? I"m curious..

  • @royal_diadem -

Boiled eggs used to bother me. When I was a little kid at Easter time I think that is all my family ate. I remember we would go to the Easter sunrise church service at 6AM and then after the service we would eat and it was always hard boiled eggs and every year I would throw up. Then I stopped eating them I didn't throw up but the weird thing was I could eat them any other time and they wouldn't bother me.

  • @ElevenStones -

Even if cauliflower is drenched in cheese, I won't touch it and I love cheese.

  • @NightlyDreams -

When I was a kid one of my baby sitters always made eggs sunny side up but I didn't know that was the name so I always called them Mrs. Shaker eggs.

I don't mind omelets, it's just the thought of eating chicken with eggs. It's hard to say, it's sort of like how with the Jewish kosher laws they are not allowed to eat the mother with the mother's milk so basically they couldn't eat hamburger with cheese or drink milk with a hamburger. Maybe I am seeing eggs as baby chickens and the chicken as the mother.

  • @Peridot21 -

Omelet Aversion would be awesome...I'll let you have that name and then I can manage your band.

Oh you can tell me the omelet story just as long as it doesn't involve chicken mixed in with the eggs.

It's amazing how well the Bob Marley/Softcell one works. I am actually listening to my Trio cd right now.

  • @Ampbreia -

There were some foods growing up that I loved that most of my friends wouldn't touch, things like olives, peas, and green beans although now I only get olives in a martini. I also don't care for pork.

  • @afuncynicalbash -

Instead of one night of presents Hanukkah has 8 crazy nights! Even though I am not Jewish I do respect their practices and well I should since Christ was himself Jewish.

  • @pureboy123 -

No need to feel that way, I am just weird when it comes to eating. I won't eat those things but I have no qualms about sitting down to a plate of squid and octopus.

  • @dlmcniel -

I was at a local diner recently and ordered them sunny side up. They came out, they were undercooked and I think even raw but on the bottom they seemed burnt. I complained and I think I pissed off the owner/cook/my next door neighbor.

  • @crazy2love -

Awww...thank you. I am pretty messed up but I'm happy with it.

  • Ohh no! That's like the worst for me. *Shudders.
You can have all my squid and octopus.

  • @SignificanceOfTheMightyClit -

No not Jewish although people have thought that about me before. I guess I respect Jewish beliefs. I was a former minister in a Christian church and I guess my boss was Jewish.

I don't mind eggs but the thought of mixing eggs with chicken just seems so revolting. I enjoy sunny side and scrambled and bendict.

  • Thanks for sharing, I love mashups (I have a mix on my mp3 player -- 350+!) and I think my fav here is the Bob Marley/Soft Cell mix, mostly 'cause I like both artists.

  • @NVPhotography -

I need to get to a store and buy an mp3 player so I can get all the mash-ups I post here on board. I think I have at least 2gbs worth.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - When you do, I will share the wealth with ya, I know some great sites that host mashups.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

i have no problem eating chicken fingers at breakfast with eggs and all that other stuff. i think wrapping the chicken in egg is a little gross though. maybe the jewish forfathers had something going with that law. couldn't give up my cheeseburgers though. or fried oysters. i think they have some law against shellfish too.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - deal!  i'll be the talent (even though i have none) and you can be the brains (ya know, cause you have a big head and all... ) ;P

oh and the egg story... i won't bore you to tears with all the details... suffice it to say it involved chopped tomatoes... and ughhh runny-ness (if that's a word lol)... and an obligation to eat it... ick! it still gives me the willies *shudder* ;)

  • @Peridot21 -

Deal, I'll get my lawyer to draw up the papers.

Sounds like an English breakfast. They eat tomatoes with eggs over there and lots of baked beans. I wouldn't think that would be a good way to start the day.

  • But I luv cauliflower, broccoli, and strawberries!

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - lol eww you're right... deff not a good way to start the day =/

and yay, ok let me know when the papers are ready and tell me where to sign ...ya know, we are going to be so rich and famous, it's not even funny ...and theeeen, *we'll* be in bloggers' celebrity posts hah =P

  • @RestlessButterfly -

Well then I will let you eat all of mine

  • @Peridot21 -

OH SWEET! My dreams are slowly coming to fruition. I want to be the manager standing in the background nodding along to the music because he knows he is going to be rich.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Yay!  Thank you!  More strawberries please...

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - hah ...and famous ...don't forget famous! ;)
