  • So I was going to write about abortion

but I thought screw that.  Actually I did find out why so many in my family are pro-choice.  When my mom was 6 or 7, one of her aunts died.  I guess now that I am old, they finally figure they can tell me family secrets.  I learned two major family secrets this year and I wonder what else they have in store for me.  Anyway back to my mom's aunt...she had 6 kids already and found out she was pregnant with her 7th.  She and her husband didn't want a 7th kid so she sought out a back alley abortion.  She died from this.  6 kids lost a mother because of an abortion.  Oh crap...I hope this doesn't start a Xanga trend.  We just got off boobs and I've seen a few anal sex posts which are new.  Please don't blog about abortion.

I am saddened by the Packers' loss this afternoon.  They fell apart in the end.  The penalties really kill the team.  Mike McCarthy has no discipline....EXCUSES!  Well I got thinking about how the Packers played the Redskins and earlier in the week I had read an article about one of the last school districts in Wisconsin that had a mascot referring to Native Americans was planning on changing the mascot to either the "Herd" or the "River Bandits".  Why are professional sports teams allowed to keep these racist names?  Indians and Redskins...to me, that's horrible that they are still allowed but then I am 1/16th biased.  The NCAA made a law that any team with a Native American based team mascot had to have permission from local tribal officials in order to retain the nickname.  If schools didn't comply then they would not be allowed to participate in NCAA sports tournaments.  I can only think of two teams that have Native American nicknames, the Florida State Seminoles and the University of Illinois Illini.  The governing body of Wisconsin high school athletics made a similar ruling.  High schools had to obtain permission from the local tribes to keep the mascots.  Most just changed them regardless.  I can only think of one team that has a Native American type mascot and that is my adopted hometown and they are the Chiefs.  One team I played against football against in high school were called the Red Men.  When we played them I extra adrenaline flowing through the veins.  That pissed me off.  How can a school knowingly have a mascot that can be construed as racist?  Then I figured it out.  The school was a conglomeration of three towns in Wisconsin and they named the school after the first three letters of these towns.  It was called GET High.  Serious.  There are some crazy people in one of those towns.  I found a book by a guy claiming that the Garden of Eden was in western Wisconsin but this has nothing to do with the reason why this area is called God's country.  It was even on the cans of Old Style...brewed in God's country.  I always thought if God drank Old Style, he had poor taste in beer.  By the way, Old Style was my first beer.  I was three years old.  My grandfather, who was a rascal, called me into the kitchen where he was drinking beer.  He said, "Matthew, I have this new kind of pop.  It tastes better than that Mountain Dew."  "OK grandpa!"  glug glug glug glug glug glug..."Wow, grandpa this is good"  OK I didn't know any better.  I was three.  Well soon after I finished the 6 pack...no, just kidding, I only had one...my mom picked me up.  I was potched.  I couldn't walk straight and ended up falling down the stairs.  My mom had no clue what was wrong with me as my grandpa sat sipping his Old Style and laughing at my predicament.  He shouted out, "I hope you can wake him up for church in the morning."  Anyway, I figured out why pro sports teams don't change their mascots.  It's all about the money.

    Seethe with anger

The longer I stare at this photo, the more I realize he is one of my former students but the mullet went to locks of love.

    fuck you, Tea Party

Oh, I thought the Packers had me depressed.

So what is the moral of this post?  Stop writing about abortion.  Write about anal sex.  Show boobs.  Find me someone to love.

  • I really never got the Cleveland Indians... or, for that matter, the Redskins or the Sioux. Imagine the shitstorm if we started a team called the Fighting Whiteys or something.

  • i hate xanga right now... but i like this (which, of course, your last line reminded me of... and had to go to the tube and listen to ;)

  • I don't know you, but every time I read one of your posts I get the urge to tell you I love you. I think this is going to fast.

  • Iowa is 90% white, I think we should name one of our minor league teams the Iowa Caucasions, because it's our culture.

  • I don't want to get into the whole Indians thing after decades of SEMO being the Indians it was changed to the Redhawks. I heard enough crap from both sides and realized my head was going to explode if I had to listen to anymore of their crap. As for the rest, I did reply to some anal sex post. Yes, there should be more like those. It makes my day more entertaining well besides you of course

  • o.o! 3?!?!!? lmao.  - I'm sorry about your aunt, though.   And lol @what re_pose said.

  • My middle school mascot was the chieftains. As far as I know, it's still the chieftains. There was a controversy not far from where I live a few years ago that involved a school that had the rebels mascot. I believe they got complaints about the Confederate battle flag being involved with the mascot, so they had to redesign it. Also, earlier this year there was another controversial mascot involving Devils (well, it was mostly one uptight preacher complaining about it), though that mascot still remains.

  • haha...yeah. that CARAZY tea party.

    woah. dude. re_pose.

your dreams may yet come true.

  • i really enjoy the way you think. kind of crazy. i'm still waiting for that vlog of yours.

  • @complicatedlight - That's a good one, ecause not only will it honor white people in Iowa, but also bakers of white bread!  Nothing could possibly go wrong with that name there!

  • @ItIsAllGravy - why thank you. i feel pretty positive about it myself.

  • I totally agree with your point of view on posts. Enough with the cliche posts! I can't relate on the football naming thing, cos here most teams are named after the city with an FC (football club) following.

  • I'm on the fence about team mascots based on Native Americans. I don't understand why schools CAN'T keep them, provided they were adopted as a means of showing respect to local history. My favorite (well, in some respects) example is Illinois - I've read that they did a lot of research to ensure the mascot was accurate and respectful, rather than a caricature.

But I'm totally with you re: Cleveland Indians and the Washington Redskins. WOW.

I had to work during the game yesterday, but got to watch it. Depressing. Silver lining? We didn't lose THAT badly, despite having pretty much 2nd/3rd string offense AND defense (except Rodgers) in there. Could we just get & stay healthy please? And stop racking up the penalties.

P.S., my first beer was a Miller High Life at the ripe old age of baby-hood.

  • @GodlessLiberal -

Back in the days of the Negro Leagues teams even had to endure the label of "black" in some of their mascots. Of course they also had to endure segregated baseball. There was a team in Atlanta called the Black Crackers which they took from a local white semi pro team, the Atlanta Crackers. I'd love to see a team called the Crackers in this day and age.

  • @Peridot21 -

I hope I'm not fueling your Xanga anger. And thanks for the video link, my last line was inspired by that song. I dozed off during halftime of the Packers game while listening to it and it was stuck in my head.

  • @re_pose -

Awww that makes me feel special. I have that "fast" effect on people. Maybe it's how I live my life. I try to live each moment to the fullest which has allowed me to have some great experiences.

  • @ItIsAllGravy -

OR the Pig Farmers who have awesome River Boat Casinos...well that is just my recollection when I lived for a year in the southwest corner of Wisconsin and traveled into Iowa.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - I've never actually been to any of those casinos.  They look like a good time.

  • @sw33tw3asl3 -

Years ago Marquette University changed their mascot. They were the Golden Warriors but they changed it out of respect but about 6 years ago a movement came about to change back to Warriors but the campus shot it down.

I don't know why but it always seems that Xanga has such distinct battle lines when it comes to certain topics and I can't believe anal sex is one of those topics.

  • @nov_way -

I would say more about it but the first rule of living in Wisconsin is that you don't discuss Wisconsin.

  • @Rob_of_the_Sky -

I remember hearing something about how Ole Miss were still going to use the Rebels nickname but instead of using a guy that dressed as a Confederate soldier they looked for a new figure to be the rebel. The students voted for General Akbar from Star Wars but LucasFilms stepped in and threatened lawsuits.

  • @complicatedlight -

When that Tea Party organized their first event at the capitol in Madison, I think there were an equal number of people protesting American Idol's inclusion of an openly gay male as there were those protesting the government.

  • @my_little_niche -

Yeah, my time on a computer has been severely limited and basically just get to do Xanga and a little facebook

  • @ccRowp -

Yeah I've heard it's much different in Europe because teams represent the city and not schools. Sometimes I wish America would adopt that so are schools can focus more on academics rather than athletics but it will never happen. My high school allocated more money to sports and music than academics. Football received 75% of the sports budget. Then when I took Latin, they had been using the same textbooks since the late 1970s.

  • @ZepBlueEyedGirl -

They did get rid of the cheerleader who would dress up in Native American garb and do a "war dance". Members of the Illini tribe found that offensive but not the name. I remember when they had the last game with that guy, Sports Center did a feature on the history of the cheerleader and the people on ESPN acted like losing this offensive cheerleader was the worst thing to happen to sports. I remember someone got in trouble for saying it was political correctness run amok.

This town near where I live has a population of 700. They were nicknamed the Indians simply because the name of the town is a very Native American sounding name. There were no Native Americans in the town to ask so that told me something. They changed their name to the Timberwolves and they put up a statue of a wolf in front of the school but I swear that whenever I look at it, the thing looks like it is smiling.

Yes, that is great silver lining but I worry about Rodgers for next week with all the battery of tests he will have to go through in order to get back on the field.

  • @ItIsAllGravy -

When I was in high school, one opened across the river right around the time school started. I forget the name of it but every time I go back to that area, the casino remains but it always has a new name. The most recent name was Lady Luck.

  • About the Tea Party Lady: WTF! Is that a baby head popping out of her vagina?

  • @socialdemocracyforall -

Maybe it is an illegal alien or prescription pills smuggled into America because even though she hates socialism she still collects medicare but they don't cover costs of her prescription pills.

  • I mentioned anal in my crayon post. Family secrets...ack.
Have I told you lately how much I appreciate you? Well, I do. Thank you for making me smile, think, and laugh.
    HUGS!

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - no, you're not fueling it, not at all.  it's a certain creeper that's resurfaced... crawled out from under his rock, if you will.  i'm not afraid of him, mind you... he just makes me sick... whatever, it's not a big deal (well, other than the ruining xanga for me thing) ...oh well, this too shall pass, right? ;)

  • @Peridot21 -

That really sucks. It's interesting that I think I saw who were talking about but oh well. It better pass or I'd be pretty mad that you left over a creeper.

  • @adamswomanlost -

Awww...thank you so much. I am glad I can make you laugh with a post that was written when I was half asleep

  • : )

this made me smile. and the girlfriend one made me smile sadly. that's a new side of you. ever since that one post way back when, at least.

  • @darkarin88 -

It's been a rough couple of months and it's starting to boil over. I have started dreaming of Xangans...so creepy.

  • LMAO at the Theo picture!

And yea posting about abortion is evillllll :-p
What a selection of pictures you have here sir

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

that is creepy. do the dreams mean anything?
and. i know you write a lot...but is there anything you can do before your pot goes kaboom?? cause id hate for you to breakdown.

  • That's a pretty big family secret. We had a few in my family which I fished out threw out the years. Evidentally my great grandfather ran over my uncle when he was two and killed him. He was deaf and didn't hear the people screaming for him to stop the car. Took years for me to peice it all together finally the whole story was told. Sad.
All that stuff about sports and you didn't mention Bret Favre's penis. I'm surprised at you lol

  • @CPKviperphoenix -

Yeah it seems like abortion is a pretty big topic here on Xanga. I have yet to see one side convince someone on the other side that they are wrong and convert.

  • @NightlyDreams -

Wow that is sad. I also found out that one of my cousins was not the daughter of one of my aunts but was the daughter of another aunt..confusing. See Aunt A got pregnant and wasn't married. Having learned from the woman I mentioned here she kept the baby but instead of going through an adoption agency, she gave the baby to Aunt B who raised my cousin as her own daughter. Follow that? I just found that out when both of those aunts died this year.

You must not have read the celebrity round up close enough because I had something about Brett Favre in there with links for those interested.
