  • I Have Nothing

So I'm stuck inside today because schools were either closed for MLK Day or because of snow.  It's hard to say how much we've had because it's blowing around.  One channel says 4 inches and another says 6.  I think I'll go with 6.  I doubt I will get any sleep tonight because the city is doing their snow removal and that usually involves massive trucks and machinery.  They get modified hay balers and tractors and run them through the snow on the streets and that picks up the snow and blows it into a dump truck.  It takes a long time to clear the streets but it gets the job done.

25 years ago they filmed the classic Rodney Dangerfield movie, Back to School, at UW.  I want to go do a triple lindy to commemorate but the lake is frozen and I like my neck.

I can't do my material now otherwise I won't have anything for tomorrow and we couldn't have that so basically I hate snow.  I also refuse to write about any of the drama other than in irreverent pulses and comments on the major players of Xanga's sites.  I love turning a serious post into something about aliens and Hitler.  Anyway, I kept thinking of a Tom Waits song...I Don't Want to Grow Up.

This is why I can't take MLK Day seriously.

At least that isn't as bad as how they celebrate Black History Month in Walgreens.

    It's such a great town.

I wonder how they explained that one to the DMV.  I had to write an essay explaining my wish for a vanity plate.

Airports really know how to cater to travel weary Wisconsinites.

I bet by now you think we're a bunch of savages in Wisconsin and this doesn't help my case any.  You know you're in Wisconsin when you see a guy pushing a deer carcass in a grocery store to have it butchered and no one bats an eye.

I left this note for my parents when I moved out and went to college.  They never did teach me how to write.  Thank god for college!

And Brett Favre has retired and he's ridden off into the sunset...yeah right...in a month there'll be rumors about him playing for a new team.

Let this guy at Favre...he takes off his helmet and whips his hair back and forth.

I think I need to get this patch for a motorcycle vest.  St. Vince would be proud.

    America...you're awesome.

Does "cold blast from Alaska" refer to her frigidity?  I think the IRS may be interested in seeing that video since it appears to be filmed at a church.

  • Did you use that gay marriage/McDonald's graphic before?

  • @Rob_of_the_Sky -

I probably did...I love those so much I have to reuse them. I have so many other ones.

  • @Rob_of_the_Sky -

he did; but it bears repeating.

  • I thought that the "I Have a Dream" mattress sale is CLEVER!!!! (Yes I'm a terrible person...)

And HECK YES Clay Matthews whips his hair back and forth. I <3 him. But I might <3 Aaron Rodgers' nasty stache even more.

Finally, GREEN AND YELLOW ALL DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

  • Your running away note is AWESOME. As an author of many of them myself, I know quality when I see it. haha :) In other news, I LOVE the "Black and Yellow" remake. I love that song, and I can't think of a LESS gangsta/hip hop NFL town than Green Bay, so it's just full of win for me. Then again, I am unabashedly pro-Wisconsin-anything.

  • the bears are going whip yo boooty.

  • I like that picture about the football player and his hair. That "Black and Yellow" song sounds wonderful.

  • Vince is sorely missed.

  • that note is adorable.

heh. the tag's on a subaru. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

  • That Walgreens is very bad. Very bad indeed! (tsk, tsk, naughty-naughty)

  • Green & Yellow, eh? My friends always call me "racist" when I sing the original. I likened Caka to it once--because he says he has black humor & he is yellow (I can say that because I am, too...right??). Hm, maybe I AM racist... :P

  • "ps you are mean" lol i love that =) ... but, yeah, that nothing thing?  saaaame. blehhhh....... =/

  • Love the pictures! the videos, i'm not even going to try to look at the videos right now with my internet, but loved the pictures!

Sounds like quite a lovely town indeeed

  • Bahahahaha.

"If you don't like Madison, Wisconsin, you must not like White People."

    Haha. Yes.

  • i hurt my back trying to bucky

  • That's my favorite Tom Waits song that The Ramones covered. heeheeheh

  • pardon my ignorance..but what's MLK day?

the RU 18 Yet plate could be perfect for our Prime Minister's car.... :)

  • I love Tom Waits voice and songs.

I was in a motel once that had a sign about not cleaning game in the room. Ha.

Funny stuff, M.! You do got something.

    HUGS!

  • I was having a discussion with someone about MLK day. I don't get it... we had men that did great things for this country - Washington, Lincoln, etc. - yet they have been all lumped together into "Presidents Day" which goes by without a whimper. Is it because we can't celebrate "white" things? There is an entire black history month but nothing like that for white folks. what's up with that?

  • Finally!!! I know how to Bucky!

  • @wrybreadspread -

I should do a post with all of those that I have. I probably have repeated them a few times but oh well it works to make my point.
I love how there is a group that always goes to Packers home games dressed in papal garb who have pressured the dioceses of Green Bay to seek Vince Lombardi's canonization.

  • @my_little_niche -

No I don't think that's bad. I just don't get how stores can have sales on such a day where we should be honoring a great man and not selling bed at low low prices.
I really despised ESPN and the Packers media relations this morning. Some news channel ran a story of a breast cancer survivor trying to get Packers to autograph her pink jersey and they showed Rodgers walk right by her without signing and then they showed Clay Matthews saying, "They told me you'd be here." Anyway what the news and ESPN was trying to do was make Rodgers look like some insensitive ass but he explained that he signed numerous things for her a few days before so it wasn't like he dissed her. She acknowledged that as well. As for the Packers media, they could have told him she'd be at the airport or they could have explained to the media that Rodgers signed things for her already. It's just messy.

  • @ZepBlueEyedGirl -

I remember a few rap groups whose songs were all Wisconsin and Packer oriented...Shadd Rap and CWA (Cheeseheads with Attitude). Then there's the Wizenheimers.

  • @anonymiaous -

I think it will be a great game, not a blow out but very close.

  • @nov_way -

Clay Matthews...he is an amazing player and I'm so glad he's with Green Bay.

  • @complicatedlight -

Hey, I had a friend that had a Subaru and the make was a GL. It stood for "Get Laid".

  • @POETIC_ISIS -

I really want to know what they were thinking if anything.

  • @Shopgirl0393 -

I have yet to figure out how liking certain music makes a person racist. I had friends in high school that considered a guy a racist because he liked rap. It was just so weird.

  • @Peridot21 -

It's really painful because all my good ideas go to my motivation post and my round up and then the rest of the time I am left with nothing. I think the cabin fever is rotting my brain.

  • @CPKviperphoenix -

It's fun, today I put out my recycling and the crew threw my bin on top of the snow bank on the side of my driveway. My guy I have that comes by on school days to plow so I don't have to do that when there's school blew the snow on top of the bin so I had to dig it out of the snow bank which is up to my chest...it was such a mess.

  • @opticalnoise -

It's such a fun town. I get in so much trouble when I go there. "Hey, you want to do a beer bong?" Who can turn that down?

  • @maniacsicko -

I haven't even bothered trying that because I figure I will be laid up in the hospital.

  • @distractedbyzombies -

For the longest time I thought it was the other way around. I uploaded the Waits version to Xanga.

  • @NiDH0GG -

Martin Luther King Jr. Day...I should have written that out. I'm the ignorant one expecting my foreign readers to know this day. Many schools and businesses have the day off in remembrance but I don't think anyone really focuses on his works.

LOL! I have been hearing about your leader. I guess it's not politics if there isn't some sort of sex scandal.

  • @adamswomanlost -

There are times I love putting all my Tom Waits cds in the stereo and sitting back with a bottle of scotch and just let his voice and the scotch take me away.
I think cleaning game is the least of some motels' worries. I stayed at a motel in suburban Chicago and I swear they were filming movies in the rooms.
    Thanks, that means a lot.

  • @spititoutalready -

I just was talking to someone about White History Month. I've been told the reason why we don't have White History is because whites wrote history so technically every month is white history. I don't buy that one bit because so many textbooks have turned into revisionist books and white European males are made to be the devil.
I can't remember but doesn't Illinois shut down on Lincoln's birthday?

  • @jacksoncroons -

YES! Bucky Badger is such a force and we must know how to dance like him.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

About the motels...that's wild! I have some great motel stories I should tell sometime. I stayed at a hotel in northern NM once that was the Motel from Hell! I swear!

  • @NiDH0GG -

    Your prime minister is insane.

  • @adamswomanlost -

There have been a few that I've stayed in that I've worried about getting through the night. That one I was talking about, the reason I'm fairly certain they were filming something was because I saw a few tripods being carried in as I was signing in and later that night I left my room to get ice, I heard a guy ask a woman, "Should we ask?" I was hoping they saw my potential to star in an adult feature. Later on I heard screaming between them and the owner because the toilet wasn't working and the owner was so mad. I thought someone was going to get hurt.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -

    Yikes!
I saw a story on 20/20, or one of those shows, years ago about weird things in motels. Also, about how NOT clean they are, etc. It upset me so, I still think about that when I stay at a motel. Ack.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - they're actually good cars, in my experience. i might get one (if it doesn't come with that plate).

  • yeah, political leaders are bonded with satyriasis..he loves women very much...maybe too much..especially those underage...it's a shame to share the same nationality of such awful people....

    @my_little_niche -

I agree...but what about those who voted for him? more than 50% of italians...hence...more than 50% of italians are insane too! :D (I never voted for him, let me make it clear...D:)

  • @NiDH0GG -

true story. we have a politician in MN (Michele Bachmann) who i also think is insane. but then i realize that the people who voted her in are just as insane.

  • @my_little_niche -

    I will check her out...

  • License plate is funny. I saw a license plate that said "u suk it"

  • @adamswomanlost -

I usually ask for clean bedding when I get to my room

  • @sw33tw3asl3 -

I've seen some interesting ones here in Wisconsin but I cant' remember them all right now. It always boggles my mind how that can get past DMV because to apply for a vanity plate you have to practically write an essay explaining the meaning and I got a phone call verifying what I wrote.
