  • Two reasons:

    1. She are a see-leb-oraty!

    2. She is American. They are not.

Not GOOD reasons, but reasons none the less.

    SECOND.

    OMG THE CLOUD. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • I can't figure out the answer to that question either. It's quite infuriating.

  • Awesome, I love the cats! To answer the question, it's probably because she was a famous twit. I don't really care that she's gone. She more than likely killed herself. Those people who got killed certainly didn't ask for it and I feel for the families of those victims and of course the victims themselves.

  • Because Amy is more important than the people from Norway.  How many times do I have to repeat that?

  • Threeway rape isn't normal, but on catnip it is.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - yes. But an American celeb-- part of our fame machinery. In a way, the American people feel a sense of ownership of her (as well as the others caught in the glossy web)

  • Caturday, huh? Haven't seen this.

Plus, I haven't a clue. Let's face it people give more of a shit about celebrities doing stuff than they do about the death of over a hundred people. That's just the breaks for little people. If it makes you feel better, then I'll probably just go back to posting what I post, and you won't see a celebrity  obituary post out of me. Deal? Oh, and @PervyPenguin feels your pain.

  • @TheTheologiansCafe - You can repeat it till it's a tongue twister. People will just see to it it isn't undderstoof or accepted. After all, Amy may have been a big star, but she was merely a person like you and me. Now, that she is gone, people will probably do nothing but find the next similar girl to pity and talk shit about.

  • I love caturday! (I notice your kittys are always at the end)

  • I LOVVVE CATURDAYS!!!

  • Yay. caturday!!! I almost skipped it because of the title...

To be honest I'm tired seeing her name... I don't know who she is, nor do I care... another druggy who her life meant nothing...People have the right to live their life as they please and die as they please... Her choice,  and I'm not sorry for her....

As for Norway, that was truly sad. I hope justice prevails in that sense and to be honest torture to that heartless terrorist  would be the least I would expect. Don't just give death penalty but invoke merciless pain how he did with those 98 people ... not that we're cold blooded but sometimes punishment should meet the crime eye to eye...

  • If my cat were white, he'd be a cloud too :)

  • Easy and I'm going to let my boy Joseph Stalin answer that for you.

"One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic."

It's easier for human beings to have sympathy for one's death compared to a number of people's deaths. We end up seeing it as numbers more than the human lives behind it and that's why it makes it so hard to relate to something as big as that tragedy. Also the fact that so many tragedies happen in the world, that's hard to genuinely care about them all at a given time.

    Happy Belated Caturday!

  • Loved the post. And it's because she's famous. Which sucks. But seriously, I'd rather hear about the people in Norway. They were murdered. She took her own life. End of story.

  • LOL

the give of the kitten is tooo cute. And the last one looks funny!

I think its because people could personally relate to Amy Winehouse, the people in Norway are just numbers. The fact that there is a life and a family behind each goes beyond human imgaination...

  • @TheTheologiansCafe - I suppose.  Amy Winehouse gave the world a few songs and I can't think of anything Norwegians gave us.  Lefsa maybe but how many people eat lefsa?

  • I was surprised that the Norway attacks were on the inside cover of my morning paper yesterday, instead of front cover. Instead, eighteen Akron firefighters were promoted, and that made front cover. People argue that local news should take precedence over international headlines, BUT OVER 80 PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN A COUNTRY THAT IS KNOWN FOR BEING VERY PEACEFUL. I think that hold more weight than 18 firefighters getting a promotion. The world is an odd place nowadays.

  • I do feel bad for her and also incredibly bad for what happened in Norway :(

  • Awesome... And I agree, Amy is no more important than what happened in Norway.

  • Chin up, guys. We always land on our feet.

I admit, this haz teh funneh! Winehouse's death was a matter of time. Bitch had it coming!

  • I don't even know who Amy Winehouse was.  Some singer, yeah, that's what the headlines said.  However, the Norway tragedy did grab my attention.  I guess I'm as normal as three-way rape.

  • I blame Winehouse's fans for buy her records and supporting her drug habit.

  • WHAT Ho?  and miss this unlucky allusion to 27 being the magic ages we lost Jimi Janis ..x.x.x.x Amy Winehouse?  But my good fellow, that just would never do!.

  • This is the best Winehouse post I've seen so far.

Yeah, American news media isn't gonna pay attention to some random people with names we can't pronounce in a small cold country unless they're celebrities. It's pretty damn sad, if you ask me.

  • i like buddha cat. and your cats. when are you going to start giving them captions?

  • Norway definitely should receive more attention.  Although I don't know how that would fix the problems the world is facing.  It just shows we care more about them than her I guess?

  • Love caterday:):)  My prayers are with the people of Norway and what a horrid tragedy.

  • Sad but true, celeb news trumps the average person.  Loss of life for an individual like Amy's or the action is Norway is tragic.

btw..Love Caturday, funny cat pics...Thanks for your advice a while back about avoiding the xanga home page

  • @GodlessLiberal - even today after the guy gave his address in a closed courtroom and said he had terror cells, they gave more coverage to Winehouse.

@boricua_chic_2008 - I have a feeling there's going to be talk she was murdered or forced to OD because that's what happened with Kurt Cobain and people have reported hearing what they described as a struggle in her apartment...why do I know that?  Because that's the only thing that's on the news besides talk of our default and debt ceiling.

@brosephine - That's right, you're in MN.  When they taught DARE in my classroom, they were just starting meth commercials.  Those were so gross.

@mynameisblueskye - I've come to think that the reason the media is giving attention to Winehouse's death isn't because it was tragic but because of her age, 27, and how so many promising musicians have died at that age.

@comet555 - yeah, I like to include photos of them and it's not because they are sitting behind me with a gun point at my back

    @FallingSafely - it's a great day

@pinktiger335 - I'm starting to fear that some bad things are going to happen because of this terror attack in Norway.

@ArmyWife4Life2007 - My first cat was like that too but then we slimmed him down and he got to be so mean so I guess a fat cat is a happy cat.

@Hinase - hmmm thanks for that quote, no wonder Stalin operated the military like he did during WWII.

@gilly_owens - exactly, she had maybe one hit song here in America so I don't get why the American media is milking her death for everything it's worth.

@Cestovatelka - one of my local papers had a story about how the mayor of the town who happens to be only about 21 was just finishing up his ethics course because he was found to have done some dirty tactics in giving his dad all the bids for garbage removal...no Norway.  Oh there was also an article about a micro-brewery and a bar that has hundreds of different beers on their menu.  I find this hard to believe since there are a lot of Norwegian settlements around here.

@kachino - Honestly, I don't know how to feel about Winehouse, I've wrote so many entries about her and her wild ways and the last time I wrote about her it was really pessimistic and I know I expressed sympathy for her but she did do it all to herself.  No one forced her to do the things she did.

@ctaretz - thanks, it's been sickening watching the news because they seem to be avoiding this Norway thing like it's the plague.  Maybe they are fearful that his ideas will spread here.

@windoftheforest - yeah, she did heavy drugs and those things never prolong life.

@twoberry - she was a drug-addled young woman who had a hit song called "Rehab" and that's about it.  The fallout from Norway is going to be tremendous.

@Lithium98 - true, the same could go for Britney Spears when she was having her meltdown and Michael Jackson after his hair caught fire and also for the parents who knowingly dropped their kids off at the ranch.

@starmanjones - I think that 27 Club is why her death is garnering so much attention.

@leaflesstree - I wish the American media got it's priorities straight.  Instead of talking about Amy Winehouse ad naseum they should have been focusing on the deaths in Norway

  • @BranmacFeabhail - I was sort of hoping that people here would caption my cats.  I guess I got spoiled.  I posted a photo from when I first had them and then visited an lolcats site and someone had taken my photos of Kiki and captioned them.

@NightlyDreams - I've begun to think that the reason Norway isn't getting coverage is so that the guy's ideas don't spread.

@Tymedancer_is_Grannyinboxers - It's so sad, I saw a video of the first people who arrived at that island.  I was sickened.

@ThexGodfather - I've also saw that with Casey Anthony.  There were so many other little girls who were abducted in that time and murdered but they received no attention.  Oh and I saw you had problems with some of the Malaysian bloggers.  Well I think there's only one and he just attacks people who have differing viewpoints with all his different sites.  Good luck with that.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - I guess so. His last name is steel after all. Lol

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Haha, my cat is just like me, always mean ;)

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - I never heard that Kurt Cobain was forced. I've always heard he got high and drunk home alone and shot himself. I read an interview Amy's mom had recently where she said that she saw her daughter the day before her death and she was out of it. She also said she knew it was only a matter of time. If that's true, her mom was an irresponsible mother, because there's no way I would have let my daughter go knowing she wasn't ok. I would have dragged her to the hospital and got her help. I haven't heard anything about a struggle at her apartment. All I've heard is that she bought certain drugs and she mixed them with alcohol and that was it.

  • thanks for the laugh!

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Well they cover every other mass murderer's ideas why not add another one to the pot.

  • @boricua_chic_2008 - there are rumors that he was killed by
Courtney Love because he didn't want to do a concert tour but she wanted
him to and he pulled out of the tour and all hell broke loose.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Well you said it, it's a "rumor". I don't believe she did anything against him. Specially since people could see how heartbroken she was and she even wrote a few songs about his selfish act. I was shocked about his death but I certainly didn't feel sorry for him. It's a shame he is gone though. I have all of Nirvana's albums. They were a great band!

  • SLEEPY POCKET KITTEN!

    Thanks M., I needed that.
