Monday Music Mayhem
I've seen a few people post music posts this week and I thought I'd join the fracas and post 5 songs that I get when I put my mp3 player on random.
#1. "Madison Blues" by George Thorogood
I thought this was pretty odd because I have been talking with @xplorrn about my experiences at a Thorogood concert and I'm also heading out to Madison in about an hour. This actually may be my favorite Thorogood song.#2. "Mr. Sandman" by Pomplamoose
There's just something about her that drives me crazy. What a dame!#3. "Night After Night" by Lenny and the Squigtones
I don't think I need to say any more about these guys.#4. "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" by Tony Bennett
I'm a sucker for those old standards and listening to it takes me back to the days when I wanted to be a lounge singer.#5. "Gotta get Drunk" by Willie Nelson
Oh yeah! Old timey country music when it was about ass kickin' and whiskey drinkin' and not being a pretty boy douchebag.
You know that if you read Maslov's Hierarchy of needs and watch "A Christmas Story" it totally syncs up. Have a great night.

Here's the opposite of Night After Night: http://youtu.be/uJ8V-FrrGJE
another Lenny and the Squigtones song... I like this one, too
Never heard of Pomplamoose or Lenny and the Squigtones. I like the former better.

BINGO! I'm not a country fan - except maybe Johnny Cash and some Willie Nelson - but, what you say is so true. Lately, it seems country has become too 'popified.' Ugh. I'll take the old, gritty stuff if I have to choose.
I did NOT know that about A Christmas Story! Wow!
You have great taste in music, Matty!
I listened to George and enjoyed!
HUGS!

my five in response to your five...
hope you had a great night - and a safe one... enjoy!

the funny thing is, you're right about Maslow.
i'll listen to your songs later. but *right on* with the psychology lesson. i'll ponder that some more later too.
I just came back by to listen to Mr. Sandman. What a fun song!

I watched a show recently of all early '60's music and enjoyed it!
Happy Tuesday, Matty!

So, How many of Santa's reigndeer are in your freezer now?
@Rob_of_the_Sky - very good, very good
@Peridot21 - I found myself laying on the floor the other night looking at my ceiling and trying to sing that and switching between Lenny and Squiggy and when I was one I could hear the other singing.
@Unstoppable_Inner_Strength - Lenny and the Squigtones were two guys who based an act around characters they supposedly created in college but I don't know how that works because they were characters on "Laverne and Shirley". They eventually released a live album which is where that song is taken from and they had some interesting people in their band. Christopher Guest basically debuted his character Nigel Tufnel which he would use in This is Spinal Tap. The keyboardist was the keyboardist with the Blues Brothers and the drummer was named Ming the Merciless and was played by Peter Criss but he denies it.
I got into Pomplamoose last Christmas because they sang a slew of songs featured in a car ad campaign. The singer is so beautiful.
I love the old style country because that may be one of the styles of music that solely originated in America.
@AdamsWomanFell - you should totally get that theory for Christmas Day when they have the marathon

I had a pretty swell night walking around the memorial union and my latest pulse is something I heard.
@roscoes_farm - I knew my psych classes would pay off
@promisesunshine - well don't ponder too long although the more I think of it, it does work
@AdamsWomanFell - I saw something on PBS the other night that featured bands of the 60s playing their hits today. It was pretty interesting to see how they've changed but their music has remained the same.
@starmanjones - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAOVRkSCWmg essential country song
@Aloysius_son - none, I'm slipping, I may have to see if a guy who got 3 will give me some.
@godfatherofgreenbay - they did, they did....
@godfatherofgreenbay - it does. you can't be creative unless your basic needs are met. same with kids in school- can't have big thoughts when their bellies are empty.
