  • Book Vlog Plus More

    I have nothing much tonight.

the bumper sticker said, "My child is an honor student and my governor is a moron".

The Clinton Library is always fun.

That won't end well but on the good side she can pass off her stretch marks as road rash...very clever girl.  Check out this gnarly partial-pipe abortion!  Baby on Board...I never thought I'd have to fully explain what that meant.  MTV gave up on trying to discern between shows - this shot is from their newest endeavor, The True Life Real World I'm 16 & Pregnant in Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory in 120 Minutes Silent Library.

I think kids would be more willing to read if they were forced to read at gunpoint by Reading Rambo

This is what happens when the Energizer Bunny is left to charge too long.

    So creepy

If Rick Santorum is elected president, he'll make Bernie Porn disappear.

The things we allow our children to read.

Guys, always accommodate for the shadows.

We are such an advanced civilization.

For a while there I thought I was going through Perfectenschlag but now I just have a case of Hartschlongengestein and Traurigemherzenverlustliebeweinen.

And now the moment no one is waiting for...

And if you want to do this survey here are the questions:

    1. What genre of books do you prefer?
    2. What are some of the must-have books in your library?
    3. What is the most expensive book on your shelf?
    4. What book do you covet the most?
    5. How much do you spend on books?
    6. What do you think about the current trend in YA books?
    7. What series do you wish had more books?
    8. What are your go-to books in your library?
    9. What book is currently in your bag?
    10. What is the most prized book in your collection?
    11. What are some non-fiction books on your shelf?
    12. Favorite authors? (name up to 3)
    13. Favorite bookstore?

    @StrawberrySunrises

And most of you are still scratching your ears.

  • Im glad you posted today.. I was gonna try that until you pointed out the shadow thing.

  • This entry was Perfectenschlag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that's what she said)

    Haha. I love Dwight!

...and the office.....and "that's what she said" jokes.
    :D

  • Kid Indian. My day just got better. Thanks Godfather ^^

  • great vlog... i loved when your cat walked by, she wanted to say hi to xanga! :)

  • Yeah and the subject matter of the TTYL. Not just what you said but also about how the girl was having an affair with the teacher and so on. I just thought that was something a bit adult-ish.

I still have yet to check out Chuck. His last name is hard to remember.

  • Very interesting vlog/survey! I haven't done a vlog in a long time. Maybe today or tomorrow I'll follow your lead with this.

I tried to read The Book of Mormon. The writing style was a little odd to me (even though I've read old versions of our Bibles) and I couldn't keep the characters straight in my head. Maybe some other day I'll try to read it again, and perhaps I should keep a notebook to keep track of who the people are, the events, etc.

  • I love books. Definitely knew about pac-man sound though :P

  • Hahahah! I love the energizer bunny!

  • good stuff as always gogb!!!  i'll get organized and perhaps give this a spin - not sure i want to sit in front of a camera though - did enough of it back in the day when i was a port star...
board side...  not really...  just bleh on the camera... what was that tv show back in the late 70's early 80's - 'the white shadow' - poof....

  • giving a book a nice home.  that made me laugh.

i agree with you on the young adult books.  i loved hunger games, but wow. what a concept for kids.  and i like twilight but holy cow a little sexy.  and i read some of a series by eon colfer that is really younger than YA, but i couldn't read it aloud to my kid because it was full of curse words. seriously.

phantom tollbooth is a most excellent book.  hilarious!!  i had the best time reading that to spawn.

other stuff was fun too.  i hope to god that energizer bunny did that on a dare or something.

  • Hey, it does sound like Pac Man! Euw...

Great job with the vlog. You have a good voice. I'll have to see if I can find Wizards Who Peep. You know, so I can practice the stuff in the book.

  • Books are so not my thing, I gave up a long time ago, probably right around 9th/10th grade. Mostly because I read stuff worthwhile and didn't want to deal with smut.

  • Gosh - I don't have good speakers so I can't hear you - but I do know pac man so I don't have my finger in my ear   anyway - I'll do the survey

  • @roscoes_farm - Well I'm glad I could help.  I also remember one where a guy was trying to sell a tea kettle on eBay and he didn't count on the reflection of the kettle.

  • @Xbeautifully_broken_downX - yeah The Office is so good.  I didn't know what to think with Michael's departure but this season has been very good

  • @Peridot21 - actually I think she was trying to say she owns me.  No matter what I'm working on or what I put on the edge of my desk Lua has to sit there.

  • @StrawberrySunrises - oh I forgot about that, that was so creepy and then one of the books the whole plot was how they would lose their virginity and the one girl planned on doing it in a church basement...why is that geared toward kids?

Chuck Palahniuk...I can spell it because I've read so many of his books it's just that I don't know how to pronounce it.

  • @Cestovatelka - thank you, I'm glad you liked.  I've been wanting to do a vlog but haven't had anything to say and I was surprised I got 10 minutes out of this.  I might have to do some more.
Yeah, the Book of Mormon is quite a book.  It's definitely modeled after the King James Bible but it's written in a way that it's not quite the King James and it tries too hard to be like the King James.  I have a movie about the Book of Mormon that is a dramatic telling of what is going on.

  • @KnightInCROATIANarmor - I can't believe I never knew that.  I remember Pac Man when I was a kid and playing with my parents.  Man, video games have come a long way.

  • @xplorrn - I found some behind the scenes shots of how the cameramen have to operate in porn movies...yeah it's bad

  • @promisesunshine - well some people mistreat books and I will use them by actually reading them and if I don't I end up donating to a school.
Oh yeah I totally forgot that Twilight was geared toward young teens.  I remember a girl in 5th grade was reading it and I asked if her parents knew...no but I know enough not to have sex with vampires and werewolves...thank god.
Yes and after the video I had to go look at my copy of Phantom Tollbooth

  • @distractedbyzombies - yeah I find myself randomly digging at my ear just to replicate the sound and imagine myself eating ghosts and cookies.
Well if you want to go all occult on us, here's the link.  Good news, they offer quantity discounts!

  • @Thatslifekid - yeah when I was in high school and college I didn't do a lot of reading other than what was assigned for classes.  I think a lot of my classes took the fun out of reading.  I'd rather read something that I want rather than what someone tells me to read.  I had this one class in college where we had to read a novel for every class.  That sucked.

  • @mlbncsga - aww that's too bad, you aren't missing much
I believe the YA is Young Adult and how I see it is that books these days are too graphic for kids.
#7  I think what it's asking is if there is a series of books that you wish had more stories like if Harry Potter had more books to it.
I buy most of my books at used stores like Half Priced Books or my library has book sales every so often.

  • oh, yea.  did you want to explain the shadow thing?  'cause i don't get it. (yes, i know. it's probably completely obvious.)

i've seen some kids carry around some shocking stuff.  hope it's over their heads.

where is my copy?  yes, i need it.  because i need a new book for the little one. because i'm almost on spring break.

  • @promisesunshine - well see the guy is blocking out his thing and has made it look like he's extremely large by using such a large black box however the shadow always knows and shows that the size of that box is just a ruse.

I remember a 6th grader reading a book geared toward teens about the Vietnam war.  I picked up a copy and on the first page there were at least 5 curse words.

Where the Red Fern Grows...I love that book.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay -  i didn't get that the box was put on there by the dude.  get it now.  (he needs a box, because..really)

i have never read where the red fern grows.  i know several people who love it.  perhaps i shall go to the library.  they have books there.

thank you for the literary conversation.

i'm going to go read about murder and mayhem now.

  • Love the v log. Kitty stole the show :)
I'll have to find time to do the survey. I'm not a fan of ereaders. I'd rather have the paper book. Bookstore etc. also most want to buy them thinking they'll save money on books unknowing that most new books are the same price thereabouts.

  • I'm going to do the book survey.
