Happy Milwaukee Day
I watched this movie called "Bridesmaids" this evening. I think it's this independent type movie that didn't get any mainstream media attention. Anyway, it's set in Milwaukee and I got to thinking, "Gee, today is April 14th and that means it's Milwaukee Day." It's easy to remember Milwaukee day because it's always on 4/14 and the area code for Milwaukee is 414. So come enjoy Milwaukee and celebrate during one of its many ethnic festivals or Summerfest. If you want to do some serious drinking, check out the Miller Brewery, the Schotz Brewery, the Milwaukee Brewing Company, Lakefront Brewery, and Sprecher Brewery. And if that isn't enough drinking, head to legendary Water Street to the Water Street Brewery and Milwaukee Ale House and the most famous bar in Milwaukee, The Safe House. Make sure you know the password before going to the Safe House. Enjoy the Milwaukee Art Museum, watch the great circus parade, catch a baseball game at Miller Park, fear the deer with the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center and if basketball isn't in season you can check out the Milwaukee Admirals hockey team or the Milwaukee Mustangs indoor football team at the Bradley Center. Also make sure you find the statue dedicated to Milwaukee's most popular resident, Arthur Fonzarelli. So please come to Milwaukee, the most romantic city in the Midwest and the birthplace of beer goggles.
And now it's time for #Caturday
It's time for bed, have a great weekend.

While I'm very much a dog person, I never get tired of looking at pictures of cats!
The biggest reason I have for wanting to go to Milwaukee surprisingly does not revolve around beer... I am dying to go to The Safe House
milwaukee, the most romantic destination in the midwest huh?
i had no idea.
I enjoy your caturday posts.
LMAO at the 67-Ho one
Chemistry kittehs almost make me wish I had pursued science more for a career... almost. lol
I dig Milwaukee. Sorry I missed Milwaukee Day. Now where's the cat with the cheesehead hat?
I never knew it until I had kitties of my own. Kitties really do love belly scratches.
Man do I need the chipmunk catching cat; got one that has been evading me all year so far.
and the harley davidson museum, and the calatrava (the architecture in general downtown); marquette; uwm; all the public clocks... you're right gogb... beautiful and fun town!!! props!
Caturday! I am behind on my caturdays. sigh.
The kittehs look cozy.
That ho one is beautiful.
'y do dey not liek my submishuns' kitteh pic = three quarters of the Xanga populashion!!! Bwhahahahaha!
hahaha love the cat's pupils!
also, how cool you're so proud of where you live
I'd love to take a picture with a fonzi statue!!!
Pacers beat Bucks last night. That didn't do much for Milwaukee Day, I assume.
awww lots of cute ones! oh, and Happy Milwaukee Day!
Nice, I always enjoy these.
i heard the first films with sound that came out of your state were called Milwaukee Talkies. well, i didn't really hear that but if i had i would have pointed it out.
Green eyes! Nice post. That chemist of a cat is so serious. Thank you for sharing!
haha i've located a worm hole.
@methodElevated - yeah, cat's are for some reason more photogenic. I think they know what the camera is.
@firetyger - if you get there and there's a doorman say "I AM LOOKING FOR A SAFE HOUSE" Do not say "I'm". That won't work. Also if there isn't a doorman, go inside and there should be a slot machine on the wall, pull the lever and the bookcase will slide open. If you don't do that they'll make you do something stupid while everyone at the bar watches the security camera footage. I won't tell you about the secret exit but there is one. Also how they make a martini is the most awesome thing I've ever seen at a bar. There is also an alleged entrance at the restaurant above and if you know the password the booth lowers into The Safe House. I don't know that password. I went there once when Britney Spears and Tom Petty were patrons.
@bonmots - nothing says romance like going from brewery to brewery and getting tanked and then winding up rolling around in some random public park with the one you love and then finding the little people section of town that is built to scale
@RestlessButterfly - glad you enjoy
@Cestovatelka - yeah, those chemist cats are quite funny, I think I have a few more left and then I'll have something new.
@Kellsbella - hmmm I may have to do a search for that one
@sleekpeek - oh man, my first cat hated to have his stomach touched but then he was a male. I think that's something with male cats. It's sort of a stimulation for naughty times so they don't like that. One of my cats comes to me almost every night when I go to bed and she curls up beside me and rolls onto her back for her belly scratches.
@ElevenStones - yeah I had a couple strays that kept my yard varmint free, no rabbits, mice, squirrels, birds, but this last summer I didn't have that and my garden suffered.
@xplorrn - oh yeah I forgot about Harley, that is a pretty awesome tour and Marquette is too. I have toyed with the idea of getting back into school and entering their school of theology. Oh and you should also check out Wisconsin Lutheran College down there. If you ever eat Schwann's ice cream or other frozen products you can see where your money went on that campus and if you're ever in Mankato, check out Bethany Lutheran College to see where the rest of your money went.
@distractedbyzombies - it's ok, just as long as you remember from time to time. Sort of like "Remember the Sabbath Day". It doesn't say "You do this every week"
@LaughOutLoudLauren - glad you liked it
@spinner_mom - hahaha...so true!
@raspberryjade - I'm not from Milwaukee but just really love the town. I had so many classmates in college that were from Milwaukee so I got to spend a lot of time there when I'd visit them.
Fonz is on the Riverwalk. It's quite cool and here's a photo of the statue that will blow your mind.
@KnightInCROATIANarmor - yeah, but people are really backing the Bucks because they are in the hunt for the playoffs. I think they are just two games back.
@Peridot21 - glad you enjoyed, I wish I could've celebrated Milwaukee day in Milwaukee but I settled for some of Milwaukee's fine products in my refrigerator.
@mZdejavuZ - glad you enjoy
@TheSutraDude - hmmm I had not heard that, I tried to look that up but apparently there is a band with that name. Oh and speaking of music in Milwaukee...The Violent Femmes
@nov_way - glad you enjoy
@StrawberrySunrises - I love that one
@godfatherofgreenbay - haha. wow The Violent Femmes. great name for a band.
LOL at wormhole!
I knew I drank all that Champagneof Bottled Beers for a reason
only now I think it's just Beer...I like it in a bottle, right outta the freezer...
@godfatherofgreenbay - Thank you for the tips! I want to go soooo bad!!!
Awesome! I liked this.
When we lived in Iowa we made a few trips to Milwaukee. Did you mention the zoo? Back then, when you toured the Pabst brewery, you could sit and drink on the patio as long as you liked. That was fun, and a long time ago.
@scribelife - glad you enjoyed
@mlbncsga - oh it's still the champagne of beers but when I drink it people sometimes call it Low Life
@firetyger - I hope you get to go sometime soon
@ctaretz - glad you enjoyed
@godfatherofgreenbay - hahahaha - here they call it yella miller
@whyzat - oh man I forgot about the zoo but that's because I have bad memories of the zoo. I had a free admission because on summer I read so many pages through a library reading program. Well we went and I was amazed by those plastic mold things and I begged my parents to get one. I watched as this one child was getting one of a gorilla and apparently my parents didn't notice I was not with them and the next thing I know I'm separated from them. I don't know how long it was but I kept walking back and forth between the gorilla mold machine and a train stop. Eventually I broke down crying on a bench and a security guard walked by and I told him I lost my parents. Then we were reunited and they hit me.
We drank outside at one of the breweries down there but I can't remember which right now.
