The Great Gatsby
So this weekend I got to see an advanced screening of The Great Gatsby. It was better than I expected. I was also inspired to make a playlist of songs that I thought should've been in the movie.
1. Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
2. Whoomp! There It Is by Tag Team
3. Whoop that Trick by D-Jay
4. Dancing Queen by ABBA
5. Take the Skinheads Bowling by Camper Van Beethoven
6. Mas by Kinky
7. Tequila Sunrise by Cypress Hill
8. Love is All Around by Sonny Curtis
9. Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and the Comets
10. Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae JepsenI should probably say that this playlist ruins a classic, is disrespectful to F. Scott Fitzgerald, and doesn't fit. But that would be a lie.
There's something ironic here but I don't want to put my finger on it because I don't want to touch a croc or a Croc.
The Packers offensive line is definitely going to screw up the weekends of many teams this season.
Whoever said that the print industry is dying never saw this photo. This should win the Pulitzer.
Such wholesome images
It all makes sense now. I might have to crack my bottle open and pray to the deer god.
I hope Paul McCartney had a happy birthday.
I probably should've put more thought into this post.
It makes more sense that Hal from Malcolm in the Middle is a meth cook. How else could you explain how messed up that family was?
I often talk about Starbucks and Olive Garden raping a culture. Now it's the hipsters.
I wonder if that's Mrs. Trebek.
And that thought is how you survive on Xanga but you never say it. Maybe just insinuate it.
Oh and I fucking lied, I didn't see The Great Gatsby.

Mullets... They are awesome~
How dare you lie!
That Jager graphic is right on. I fucking hate that shit.
i'll wait till it comes out on dvd or on demand
Great post as usual. I seethe with envy on how awesome you are with humor. I only have breasts. I mean, they're good for something. But I wouldn't mind exchanging them for humor like yours.
Oh you had me going there with your lie. (If gofgb likes it it's got to be good!)
Remember when Disney used more clothing than that to represent the "bad" girls?
Good times.
Dancing queen is so overused in movies. :p
I saw prometheus. visually striking. jesus was an alien, you know.
I just saw previews for The Great Gatsby. It looked pretty cool. Also, fuck hipsters.
lol ya know, Homer is a lot smarter than i thought... and O Deer God, that is pretty good... so is the croc one
"Let me mullet over." LLOOLLL!!
Paul looks different in the two pics of him you posted here.
@BoulderChristina - I see so many around here that it's frightening. I saw one the other night at the convenience store a block from my house. I think it was because there was a country singer in town. This person was wearing tight jeans and an old country style shirt and the mullet was all spiky on top, shaved on the sides, and then the hair in back went down to the waist. Then the person turned around and it was a woman.
@firetyger - eprops
@Xbeautifully_broken_downX - I can't drink it straight unless it is ice cold. So many bars around here have Jager machines that keep the bottles ice cold and then they have spigots like soda machines. I'm always amazed how many people drink the stuff.
@godfatherofgreenbay - When phone cameras first came out I was one of those assholes that took pics of people, mostly mullets. I had an entire collection I was so proud of, Mamma mullet, Papa mullet and baby mullet ALL IN THE SAME PIC!! My family bought me a mullet camera and I realized that I wasn't alone with my love of mullets, but did feel a little ashamed of the pics I took of people that didn't know they were entertaining me and my family. Sometimes I'm a dick!
@bonmots - I am that way with most movies these days because it seems like it's cheaper to buy a DVD or get it on demand or whatever because in the theater you have to put up with jackasses and their jackassery may make me miss something and there's no rewind. Also you can't pause it to go get snacks or use facilities. There is a theater I go to in Madison that has ushers who stand outside the screening rooms and if you want something to eat or drink you place an order with them and they'll go get it and they give you one of those pager things for when your order arrives.
@SignificanceOfTheMightyClit - aww thanks...I don't know, it would be fun to have breasts but I like being funny. I think the only downside of being funny is that god made me ugly to keep balance in my life.
@sleekpunk - From what I've seen in the previews it doesn't look half-bad but then that's my way of saying it doesn't look totally good so I don't really know what to make of it. I read that book so many times during college that at one point I practically had it memorized so I figure the movie will be a giant let down.
@emily_shannon - remember when talented people were in Disney movies and they didn't give them out to whomever showed up for casting calls
We have those theaters you can eat at around here, too. Seems stupid to me. When I go to a movie, I want to see the movie.
@Thatslifekid - Dancing Queen is overused in bars when herds of girls rush to the dance floor and all pretend to be the dancing queen.
@AncoraImparo - hmmm someone must be watching History Channel 2, actually the majority of people I know who've seen Prometheus have no clue what happened or have so many questions that can't be answered. I have told them repeatedly that there'll probably be a sequel.
Huge fan of The Great Gatspy. Jealous you got to see it!
@LaughOutLoudLauren - most all the self-professed hipsters I've come across are also extremely racist so I tend to leave those people in their own little world.
Yeah the Great Gatsby doesn't look bad but to me it doesn't look good. I read that book so many times in college that I practically had it memorized so I'm sure the movie will be a let down.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Also a valid point. I just don't care for that song.
@Peridot21 - yeah Homer is quite a smart guy and I'm sure the reason they call him Homer is not because Homer is Matt Groeing's father's name, no, I think it's because he's named after the poet Homer who gave use The Odyssey and The Iliad.
I usually say "Oh dear Lord" when I drink Jagermeister.
The croc on is so funny I think I'm going to post it on the door of the Crocs store near me with a caption that I'm still working on. I can't believe I went to the Crocs store and tried on a pair. They actually had some for me. They felt so weird.
@In_Reason_I_Trust - yeah that's because Paul McCartney died in a car accident in 1966 and was replaced by the winner of a Paul McCartney lookalike contest
@BoulderChristina - yeah the mullet is quite funny. I had a friend that had one in grade school and now as an adult he regrets every minute of having that haircut.
I had a student that grew his hair out one summer for that locks of love. That was quit noble of him but when he donated it he got a mullet and it was just awful and kids made fun of it. He finally shaved it all off. Now there is a photo circulating the internet of a kid with a mullet and I am 95% certain that it's him.
@whyzat - yeah, exactly, I don't get why people load up on food for a movie because most of the time the food and drink is gone by the time the movie starts and then you have to go out and use the bathroom missing precious moments of the movie.
There is one theater about an hour from me where you can get beer and they have such a wide selection. That one I mentioned in the comment also has a full bar and restaurant so you could get a steak and scotch for the movie.
@EmilyandAtticus - well...I didn't see it, I sort of lied...last sentence. I'm actually fearful of the movie because the previews don't look bad but they don't look good and I read that book most every semester of college and sometimes for multiple classes in a semester so I had parts of it memorized. I just worry that it will be a let down.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Ew. I would end up next to one of those people who chew loudly and smack their lips!!!!
@Thatslifekid - yeah I'm not much of an ABBA person but there was one song they used in Malcolm in the Middle and That 70s Show that I liked.
@whyzat - the last movie I saw there was Hugo and this couple was eating some sort of fish and it smelled awful so I actually ended up getting up and moving to another area.
Never seen the movie too ... but like for Dexter, I'm also really looking forward to Breaking Bad last season.
Eeeeeew, Jager!
And you had me all excited for The Great Gatsby because I really want to see it
lol
liar liar pants on fire...it was a decent movie, kinda sorta
at least robert looked good
@kachino - I feel bad to say I've only see the first season of Breaking Bad and parts of other seasons
@Cestovatelka - I'm on the fence about The Great Gatsby. As I've said, I've read it so many times so I feel that the movie will probably be nothing but a let down.
@mlbncsga - I can only think of the one with Jim Carey and that wasn't that bad
@godfatherofgreenbay - shoot fire - I was hoping you'd come back as the fonz again. I didn't know Jim Carey did the great gatsby
I should really keep my head outta the sand more often
but Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand did the first one.
I enjoyed the book version better.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Yeah, the book is always better than the movie, but it looks like it will at least be aesthetically pleasing.
Crikey!
well dear sir - you are the great catsby after all... frickin' hot here gogb... i'm melting - which is probably advantageous to some degree...
I don't know, let me mullet over....hahahahaha. Don't know why I found this so funny, but I did XD
I never read The Great Gatsby. I wonder if I should turn in my degree.... Meh, not using it anyway. :
Paul McCartney is so old he thinks he is Mickey Dolenz. That's pretty damn old. O.o
@mlbncsga - ok here's more Fonzie
@xdeelynnx - I am probably going to be the same way when I see The Hunger Games and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
@LaughOutLoudLauren - yeah it really does look to fit the time
@carolinavenger - I was out and about the other day at a home improvement store and I saw a guy that looked just like Steve Irwin and he had a kid with him that looked like Bindi from like 7 years ago. Maybe I should lay off the acid for a change.
@xplorrn - yeah my computer was acting all wonky today, I need to get some air conditioning in my den or at least rig up fans to blow the AC in here
@crazy2love - you find it funny because you live in Minnesota and there are a lot of mullets...the closer you get away from the cities toward Mankato epescially
@leaflesstree - well you should get back at your teachers by reading it just for enjoyment and not for grades...YEAH!
I don't know why I'm using this profile pic but your comment on Paul and Mickie got me thinking of other rock gods.
speaking of the great gatsby, you might find this interesting:

and ending the post with ron burgundy was a fine choice!
@raspberryjade - oh man thanks for sharing that, now I have a new obsession
