  • Xanga Crush Revealed

    You, my reader.  This has by far been the worst summer of my life.  Be it the stress from having a dying pet to the uncertainty of my own future and huge potholes along the road of life.  You have been around and expressed concern for me.  That's more than I can say for those that I once considered close to me.  I had all this stuff prepared to say but I decided against it because given how I have this odd anniversary coming up I don't want to dredge up all those feelings and depress myself even worse than I already have.  I just know that it's amazing how a person can give up drinking and then pick it right back up and there isn't any change.  Well that's a downer so here's #caturday

    As many of you know, my cat Lua was severely sick this month and the vet sent me home one night saying that I should think about putting her down and don't expect her to get better.  This is probably the last photo I have of her before she got sick.

    This is the first photo I took of her once I got her home two Saturdays ago.  She was very underweight and her fur was in poor condition plus you can see in this shot where they shaved on her throat for feeding and IVs.  Lua hardly leaves my side.  She is at least in the same room with me at all times.  There are times when I get up to go to the bathroom when she'll get up and follow me.  This behavior has deterred me from raiding the fridge because I don't want to put her through a lot of extra work.  Also don't look but there is godfather nudity in that photo.

    Lua is slowly getting better.  Today was the most active I've seen her since I got her home.  She was chasing a laser and running up and down my stairs.  It's also taken my other cat Kiki about two weeks to get used to having her back after Lua was at the vet's for about two weeks or so.  Kiki no longer hisses whenever Lua is around.  Well here's an up close shot of her throat and chest area.  I like how they left her black spot on her chin.  Her goatee is quite prominent now and her fur is slowly coming back.

    Lua has to be by me and she's come to enjoy watching Happy Days as much as I have.  Disregard my messy coffee table and stacks of tapes and games.

    And I suppose I have to include Kiki.

    Pretty soon they'll be back together at full health.

    I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

  • Hey! There's a cat in here!!

  • *hugs* happy caturday!

  • It has been the worst summer of my life too. You know some of the reasons. I'm happy to see pictures of your kitties, and I'm so glad Lua is doing better. Big relief! I hope things get better for you. You are a great person and you deserve the best. <3

  • I'm glad Lua is getting better!  I think this is the best Caturday yet!  <3

  • Healing a sick kitty who has become family is hard times, and the hardest is not knowing what's wrong. I went through something similar a couple years back with one of mine (still paying for it too). I thought I actually killed her because I allowed lilies into my home. One ingested pollen grain is instant kidney failure and, in three days, death. Turned out to be a clogged fur ball (which still could have been my fault because I have to wonder if I brushed one of my cats, cleaned the fur from the brush, and left it lying around). I've since learned this cat has a thing for dust bunnies. My housekeeping has improved. Anyway, this isn't about me, I'm just trying to distract and also mention how my heart goes out to you over Lua and the other things (which I can only imagine your pain). Oh, and I never would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned the nudity. You made me look! (very, very glad Lua is doing better).

  • Good that Lua is getting better.

    My favourite this time has to be about the message about eating her pussy.

  • i'm so glad lua is doing better.  (i noticed that microscopic mention of something that sounds very concerning.  i hope that you are taking care of you as well.) you really have the most beautiful cats.
    i'd like to be able to say something inspirational, but really nobody needs a song from Annie running through their head today.

  • So glad to see Lua recovering! Everything else will get better soon. You got this.

  • Poor Lua. {{{{BIG HUG for you both}}}}

    I'm so glad she's doing better. Being without her for two weeks had to be tough.

  • Hunter S Thompson cat. :D

    Oh man. I'm really sorry about Lua's health issues. I'm glad she's getting better.

  • Glad your Lua kitty is getting better. I hope the rest of the summer proves to be as much on the upswing.

  • real happy about lua; may she continue to get more weller. fwiw, i'm around if you'd like to talk.

  • Yay for Caturday. I hope things get better for you and your cats. They are both beautiful. ::hugs::

  • Caturday!!!

    Glad to see Lua on the mend.

  • Keep walking . . .

    This doesn't concern you.  LOLOL

  • I'm glad she's okay ^_^

  • *megahugs* I'm sorry you're going through a tough time :( I hope things get better for you.

  • She's beautiful, they both are!

  • So glad Lua is doing better. Did they say what the problem is or was? Years ago I had the vet tell me my cat (Comet) had an enlarged heart and it was time to put him down. I took him home and he happily lived another 10 yrs. Hope she continues to improve .

  • Moi?  Your xanga crush? Aww... that's awful nice of you to say.  A bit unsettling, but nice none the less. :P

    It's good to read Lua's getting better.  And Kiki, I assume, is in good health.  ^_^

  • What was Lua's diagnosis? I am happy that she is improving.

  • we are get depress at time hop you get fell beter soon

  • aww so glad to hear she's getting better!!!

  • haha "let the belly rubs commence" and "Keep on walking...this doesn't concern you" xD Those are my favorites. :D

    And I am glad that Lua is getting better. =) I hope things start looking up for you.

  • Hooray for the kitteh's recovery!

  • While you are taking care of kitties, take care of yourself, too. They need you.

  • Thank you for 'keep walking", I had to email that to Trusty

    I take losing the little fur balls pretty hard myself; sometimes I wonder

  • i don't know what to comment

    i don't handle worst summer post that well

  • liked the midnight marauders one.  andd spotted the happy days in the background - the cats are more important than happy days reruns.  I'm sure you say your summer blew but I saw I swear it you met someone new.  I am glad and there is beer. :)   much more beer to be drank :D

  • thanks for the laugh!

  • @Relic47 - there might be a few if I look close enough

    @under_the_carpet - thanks, glad you enjoyed

    @EmilyandAtticus - yeah I think you're reasons are more legit than mine.  It's just so difficult to let go.  I don't think I'll ever have closure.  Lua is doing great except today she's hiding under a chair because it's hot and I got fans running and she hates my fans.

    @SasGal - yeah, she's doing a little too well it seems, she won't let me sleep and has to be worshiped but I think she's trying to make up for all the time she was away from me.

    @sleekpunk - the diagnosis with Lua has been so strange.  The vet said liver failure but she's recovered.  Lua also had horrible furballs coming out both ends.  I think she got into some flowers I'm going to plant this fall.  The vet said they are poisonous so I felt pretty bad.  I probably should get better at the housework too.

    @Cestovatelka - I love that Chris Hansen cat...I have plenty of others for the future weeks.

    @promisesunshine - I'll survive, thanks, the Annie song would be great especially if it is sung by Rivers Cuomo.

    @BranmacFeabhail - thanks, Lua's really recovering but it comes at a price which is my sleep because she doesn't let me sleep because she wants to be petted or wants to sleep on my pillows.  the other day I woke up and my head was off my stack of pillows and there was Lua sprawled out taking up all the space.

    @ZombieMom_Speaks - yeah it was rough because I never received word from the vet so I figured her condition was getting worse but then I get a phone call asking if I wanted to come pick her up.  That was such a relief.  I did have Kiki and she was by my side quite a bit because I think she sensed something was bothering me.

    @Thatslifekid - I love that one

    @distractedbyzombies - I love that Thompson one, thanks, she probably used up 7 of her lives but I'm thankful to get her home.

    @anvilsandedelweiss - thanks, I just need less heat and more rain to make it a good summer

    @complicatedlight - thanks, I may have to take you up on that offer but don't expect me to be articulate

    @leaflesstree - thanks, I think they get their looks from licking Chef Boyardee cans

    @Garistotle - thanks, glad you enjoyed

    @we_deny_everything - that one is great, I've walked in on my cats giving me that same look and I usually just walk away.

    @randaness - yeah she's much better, she's actually running around and having a blast

    @crazy2love - thanks, I probably should quit whining because there are others that are worse off

    @Orlei - thanks, it's probably all the chef boyardee they lick out of the cans

    @comet555 - well the vet said it could've been multiple things that set off the liver failure, one being that she got into a flower I am trying to plant around my house for landscaping.

    @Lakakalo - well I think unsettling is my middle name.  Kiki is in good health except she's hiding in places where I can't reach and she sniffs the dust and gets sneezing.

    @Aloysius_son - well the vet said she had liver failure and that was caused by some sort of virus that attacked all her organs, all her skin was yellow and so were the whites of her eyes but all that is gone now and she looks normal except she's underweight.  The vet thinks it may have been caused by her getting into some flowers I had inside my house.

    @James2012 - thanks James

    @Peridot21 - yeah it's such good news except she doesn't let me sleep because she wants constant attention

    @StrawberrySunrises - Kiki loves having her belly rubbed and it's almost a nightly thing where she'll come to me and flop down on her back and stick her legs up like that.  Thanks so much, I think Lua is recovering faster than myself.

  • @In_Reason_I_Trust - it's been amazing how she fought and how fast she's recovering

    @whyzat - yeah I sometimes forget that, thanks

    @ElevenStones - I hope she liked that one, yeah it's tough because those fur balls become part of the family

    @maniacsicko - yeah I guess I should quit whining

    @starmanjones - Yeah I shouldn't dwell on the negative but should just focus on the positive

    @hesacontradiction - glad you enjoyed

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Ah.  Would it be possible to redecorate the place so the unreachable places are more reachable?

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - I am very glad that the kitty has recovered. Be careful about her diet, the liver is one of those organs we need to live. My kitty, Bishop had a blocked urethra and needed some serious reconstructive surgery. We have to be carefull about what he eats, er she, um it? There is always a concern that crystals could collect again in the urinary tract. We tend to take our pets for granted until something like this happens. Blessings to you both.

  • @Aloysius_son - full sail sessions green *a red beer is good

  • I'm sooooo glad that Lua is doing better.  I hope (and will be praying) that her health continues to improve.  I know she has been a great companion for you.  Unhappy anniversaries are always a bummer, but keep your chin up and the bottle down... things will get better.  You and your kitties will be in my prayers!  **HUGS**  (Love the funny kitty pics btw) LOL.

  • @Lakakalo - I suppose but then it just makes more of a hassle in moving and I am sort of weird that once I have something I like in place it has to stay there.

  • @Aloysius_son - I haven't changed her cat food at all.  The vet didn't seem to think that was the problem.  Since she's been home she'll only eat her food plus a few kinds of treats and even then those treats have to be mixed because she won't eat a serving of just one.  I've also had her eat some table food to help boost her strength.  Who knew cats liked cottage cheese?  I also have to give her vitamins and that isn't fun.  It comes out like toothpaste and I have to get her mouth open and then scrape it on the rough of her mouth.

  • @VioletMoonDancer7 - thank you so much, she's been sleeping tonight so far which means that when I try to go to bed she's going to keep me up.

  • This is your best Caturday yet, not just because Lua is better, though that's a big part of it.  We who serve cats feel your pain, having suffered it ourselves.

    "Keep walking..." you crack me up!

  • @judyrutrider - she's really recovering, I had to seal off my downstairs this evening so I could run my air conditioning.  I don't want to cool off the upstairs.  Anyway, I shut the door to the upstairs and Lua dug her paw under the door and pulled it open.  I was amazed.

  • I'm sorry you're going through such a rough time this summer :(

    I understand about Lua - this summer my cat just wasn't acting right and hundreds of dollars in bloodwork later we find out she has hyperthyroidism and kidney disease. I'm glad to hear Lua is doing well (my kitty is doing much better now, too) and I hope she continues to get better!!

    I also hope things get better for you soon <3

  • @raspberryjade - oh man, sorry to hear about your cat but I'm glad they were able to diagnose her.  The vet thinks that Lua will probably have thyroid problems later in life and I'll have to monitor it.  When I first got her home all she wanted to do was drink water.  It was sort of creepy that she spent so much time in front of her water dish.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - just a heads up, extreme thirst is a symptom of thyroid problems AND kidney disease... with my cat first they thought it was kidneys, then they found out it was thyroid, then when they did a check up they found out it was both :(

  • @raspberryjade - well that was when she first got home but now her drinking is normal.
