Blam
I like my cats, I really do, but if they wake me up once more I think I may have to keep them in a kennel over night or lock them in a specific part of the house. It's warming up during the day and cooling off drastically at night which means that rodents are seeking refuge indoors. Thursday night I was just settling down to bed and had on some Dr. Who when all of a sudden Kiki comes bounding into the living room. She had something in her mouth. I turn on my lantern and she has a mouse in her mouth. I try to reach for her but she runs away. I grab an old cup and head to where Kiki went and then she runs to the other side of the house. I go there and she runs back. Finally I cornered her and she dropped the mouse and it went under a rug. I scooped it up and took it and threw it in my driveway. It flew past my motion detector and I heard it thud on the driveway and I saw that it was belly up with legs in the air so I figured between my toss and Kiki's teeth it was done for. Well I finished the Dr. Who and started sleeping. About 4 hours later I hear this strange noise. I think one of my cats is next to me and is coughing or choking. I turn on my lantern and look over. There is Kiki and Lua batting around a mouse. The mouse is making this loud huffing noise. I can't find the cup I used and Kiki picks up the mouse and runs off to another part of the house. I cornered her in my kitchen and she dropped the thing. It was cowering in a corner so I scooped it up and threw it outside. It landed with a thud and set the motion detector off. Well the first mouse was gone so I figured it ran away or became a meal. The cats remained on edge for the rest of the night. Friday night I went to bed right after I finished my round up. I got about an hour of sleep when I heard my cats digging and crying. I figured they were stuck in my couch again but they weren't. They were digging at a spot where I keep my shoes. Well just Lua was, Kiki was pacing back and forth. I moved some of the shoes and Lua scooped up a mouse and went running with it. She dropped it right on my pillow. I scooped it up in the cup and threw it outside. I praised her because she doesn't really have a hunting instinct. I laid back down and just as I shut my light off Kiki comes bounding into the room. I turn my lantern back on and see she has a mouse in her mouth. She ran away from me but then came back and dropped it on my pillow. I scooped it up and threw it outside. None of the mice were there this afternoon. I figure the one Lua caught was caught in the kitchen and they had been playing with it and lost it for a while until I moved my shoes. I also figured they are coming in somewhere in my kitchen, more than likely my dryer vent so I was out in the pouring rain this afternoon patching that up. They are both currently keeping guard in my kitchen. One is on one end of the room staring at the dryer and the other is at the other end of the room staring at the dryer. Nothing will get past them. Ahhhh... #caturday
I took out the message. I think a few people got it.

Yay Caturday! The cat in the pic with the guy doing push-ups looks kind of like my cat. Since I don't do push-ups I don't know how he'd react to someone doing them.
Yikes it sounds like you have a crazy rodent problem near you. I shouldn't have read your opening paragraph, I hate mice. But I'm glad you have good mousers. I haven't seen any mice nor evidence of them since I got my cat but there are plenty of other places for them to get food that don't have cats so I figure they don't take the risk.
Our male cat is so stupid it doesn't think his tail is a part of his body. He'll attack it and then get mad at his tail for hurting him back and bite it even harder. It's a vicious cycle. At least he is cute.
My second wife had a cat. I'm allergic to cats but I coped with the shortness of breath it caused by using one of those breatholizer spray thingies. I forget what they're called. What was perhaps worse was something I didn't previously know. Cats are nocturnal. Her cat would howl in the middle of the night and of course I had to get up early in the morning to go to work. Definitely took its toll but her cat liked me and I liked him...just not in the middle of the night.
OMG it's a mouse nightmare! Has it stopped? That's awful.
Wird dieser Anruf benötigen eine Kreditkarte?
It would be a lot worse without cats in any area. Codes are not my specialty, but I am very curious!
Das war ein klug Nachricht!
Cats with booze... perfect.
Eeew, cats bringing in mice to the house. That's why I don't own a cat and that's why I will never own a cat haha
the biggest winner when we moved so far was the cat. the local wild dead may not squawk but it is assumed they think this move blew. the second biggest winner was the dog who learned to find the figurative nuts that he lost running away.... but he now barks to high heavens at a lot of anything that moves which is loud enough to echo three rooms away...so we third benefit from not being thrown out living in an apartment with a loud dog. other won storage no longer as easily tripped over. a laundry that is twice as close. a bigger kitchen a bit easier to clean but you know I'm rambli8ng... the point was the wild dead died because the cat found a tree to the roof to the trees with lotsa birds. many mice. happy caturday.

I love reading about your beautiful kitties. But their mouse-capades wore me out, just reading about it! Ha!

I loved The Cool Cat photo!
Cats Rule, the rest of us bow down!
HUGS!!!
haha cat's are crazy! that sounds like a lot of mice! lol
neun
You're brave to put that kind of information on the internet... why someone could put your number on the m4m section of craigslist or something... not that that's a thing I've contemplated doing to the ex-whatever-he-was because I found his phone number out and have been sitting on this info... because I don't have a vendetta or anything... no sir... not me... not at all
Also you're lucky your cats give a damn. I think a mouse could make a nest on Daemon's head and he couldn't be bothered about it. In fact the last one to catch a mouse was Tilly and she's pushing 14 years old... my cats are pathetic.
the cat on the stuffed cow made me laugh. also real cats and their friends the mice are somewhat maddening. creepiest ever is a mouse IN the bed.
did I post on this under a terricat title of the german?
lol
Yay, you used the pic!
(still cracks me up, haha)
How can you be so calm about mice?? I have one teeny, tiny one in my *basement* and I freaked out! Yuuuck!
Oh and what message? What was it?
I'm embarssed since you wrote them in German, but I don't get it!
.
Anyway, great pictures
I always feel so sorry for the mice. I think cats are lovely, but when they kill other animals I'm like "ew! evil! cruel being behind the sweet facade!" My mom always reminded me that cats are predators when I kissed mine in the face "mhhh.. mouse blood"
speaking of dead animals, the one in the background where Lua (I think it's Lua) smells at the bottle, what is that? A monkey or an owl? A koala?
I love caturdays!!! Hope the little hunters got to rest this weekend after their roundup!
I loved every pic of the cats. Had a good laugh with what your two fellows are doing with the mice.
So funny.
The last two pics must be your cats, right?
Caturdaaaay!
How would you like it if somebody stole your mouse?
My cat once brought a live mouse up on my bed to play with. I was asleep and woke up to this. The cat, mouse, and blankets went one way and I went screaming the other way. Mouse is still at large.
love the bathtub one.
have i got stories about our 2nd cat, louis. we thought then that he didn't think he was a cat
@leaflesstree - whenever I try to do something work out related one of my cats, Lua, the bearded one, always cries and howls. I think she thinks I'm in pain.
I don't think I have a rodent problem as I have a weather and hole in the wall problem. There weren't any on Saturday or Sunday nights so I'm hoping my work paid off although Lua is sitting out in the kitchen staring at the spot where I suspected they were entering.
@Erika_Steele - my cat Lua does the same thing and then she bites her tail and howls and then runs around the house like a moron
@TheSutraDude - I remember a few years ago reading about how sometimes animals act really weird at 3AM because this is supposedly the witching hour which is the opposite of when Christ was said to have died. I figure my cats were just acting up at that time because they are nocturnal and probably sleep all day while I'm gone.
@EmilyandAtticus - I wasn't woken up Saturday or Sunday so I figure my patchwork took care of the problem although Lua is sitting in the kitchen staring at the place where I think they were coming in
@theKisSilent - Nein, es warmeine Telefonnummer, falls jemandwollte eineTextnachricht zu senden.
@sleekpunk - I'm always amazed how many cats hang around grocery stores and how many grocery stores keep cats around to keep mice away. Oh and it was a number people could send text messages to and I may have replied.
@Marica0701 - Es warmeine Telefonnummer. Sie liebenriechendeBier. OhneKatzenIch bin sicher,ich hätte mehrMäuse haben.
@starmanjones - My first cat was quite the hunter. He killed hares, squirrels, birds, mice, and bats. It seemed like a weekly occurrence that he'd bring a half eaten animal to us. And, yes, you posted when I had a different title for this.
@xplorrn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LinvUgXy2Is
@adamswomanback - I don't mind mice and some creepy crawlers like snakes. Spiders give me panic attacks now but that's another story. I remember one time my first cat brought a mouse to my mom when we were in the living room. She started screaming and that set me off. When I'm alone it doesn't bother me but if someone puts up a fuss then I have problems.
@isitreal_no - yeah, there haven't been any for the past two nights so I think my patchwork worked.
@Super_Rob_of_the_Sky - elf
@carolinavenger - yeah that's sort of why I changed the title and took it out. And I've often thought my cat Lua wasn't much of a hunter but she proved me wrong. The thing I hate is that they play with them and let them go just so they can hunt them all over again. My first cat would catch something and then kill it. He was fond of killing squirrels, hares, birds, bats, and mice. He once tried to tangle with a skunk but he got sprayed and that was pretty much the end of his hunting. He tried that at 18 years old.
@promisesunshine - yeah I was thankful they haven't dropped one on me while I'm sleeping...yet
@Peridot21 - I like that pic because my cats are like that with how they sleep. Sometimes it looks like Kiki can invert her spine. Creepy crawlers don't bother me unless someone else freaks out. I've handled snakes, bugs, mice, and bats but if I hear someone scream then I'll get bent out of shape. I had a message here that was in case anyone wanted to send me a text.
@under_the_carpet - it was my telfonnummer so it must be different here than there.
my two cats aren't that much of predators other than mice and bugs but my first cat was a killer. He took out birds, mice, bats, hares, and squirrels. He once tried to fight a skunk but that didn't work out for him.
That is my jackalope. It's half jack rabbit, half antelope.
@dmcx2010 - glad you enjoyed
@wyckdstorm - thanks, they sure did get rest and haven't caught anything for the past two nights although one is sitting in the kitchen staring at the place where I figured the mice were coming in
@angys_coco - glad you enjoyed, yep the last two are my little hunters although they aren't too active tonight but then one is sitting in the kitchen staring at the place where I figured the mice were coming in
@forever_musing - glad you enjoyed
@dingus6 - I'd be lost although I can use my PS3 controller
@LadyofWaters - oh I am thankful they didn't drop it off on me as I was sleeping. That probably would've freaked me out.
@bonmots - sometimes I wonder about my Kiki. When she went through her first heat she was barking. She ran around the house barking like a dog. It was the strangest thing ever.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Her cat slept all day when I was home haha. The vet told us they are nocturnal animals.
@godfatherofgreenbay - kiki. awesome. in tagalog, it means pussy, as in vagina
@TheSutraDude - One of mine is now sleeping on top of my computer modem. When she got sick this summer she got so small and could fit her entire body on it. Now she's hanging off both sides so I guess that's good.
@bonmots - hahaha...that's awesome, people ask how I got the name Lua. I didn't name them but the people I got them from said it was short of Kahlua.
@godfatherofgreenbay - My neighbors kitty leaves me dead mice and frogs on the welcome mat on my porch. I consider them gifts.
I would go crazy if mice were getting inside our house. When we lived in a more rural area, we always had mice in the garage. I'm terrified of mice so I put the cat in the garage and left. How horrible is that? That cat and dog are so cute together. What's that animal on your wall in the second picture?
@TiRocKiinPiinK - when I was in high school, my junior and senior years specifically, I lived on a horse farm and had a Rottweiler. She didn't catch mice but she did catch a few deer that dared venture into the horse pasture. It was quite a surprise one morning waking up to see her standing next to a deer carcass.
That mounted animal is my jackelope. It's supposed to be half jack rabbit half antelope.
